Habakkuk 3:1-3, & 19
Leader: This is a prayer of the prophet Habakkuk.
People: Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds.
Leader: Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known.
People: For your glory covered the heavens and your praise filled the earth.
Leader: Your splendor was like the sunrise;
People: Rays flashed from your hand where your power was hidden.
Leader: Ancient mountains crumbled and the age-old hills collapsed—
People: but God marches on forever.
Leader: The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of the deer,
People: he enables me to tread on the heights.
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, you always love us, but we do not always love you. You call us, but we
do not recognize your voice amid the clatter of our busy lives. You command us: “Love
your neighbor as yourself,” but we ignore our neighbors in need for we are preoccupied
with our own concerns. We go gone along with evil, pride, quarreling and divisiveness,
rather that promoting peace. Holy God, help us to see ourselves as we truly are, and turn
from our evil ways. Forgive us all our sins and renew your Spirit within us. We humbly
pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
