Allen is on vacation and on a trek to meditate with the truck guru on top of Mount Savage so I will be filling in for him.
PRESIDENT’S NOTES FROM THE SQUARE OFFICE
The 22nd annual Mason Dixon show was a great success, sunny, 80 degrees, 79 trucks and plenty of actives and good food. I
would like to thank Marshall and Morris Gladhill for asking the chapter to hold our show in conjunction with their tractor pull and
show. There was plenty of black smoke at the tractor pull and a large number of restored antique tractors. One of the members of the
tractor club asked how long I had had my Ford truck and it’s been 35 years. He has some of his tractors that long. You can tell we just
don’t want to grow up. I know one truck on the grounds that has been owned for 60 years and that is the New Market VFD Fire
Truck, Engine 1 which arrived in New Market in May 1955 and was in operation until 1987. It should be good for another 60 years. I
would also like to thank Bob Dinsmore and Mark Sexton for providing those fancy flag poles to fly our nation’s colors. I had people
tell me that they stopped in because they saw the flags. There was a drone flying over the grounds and its video is on You Tube, here
is the link to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-buNl2ZVwk4 whatever happened to Kodak and Polaroid.
This Saturday May 16 is the Shenandoah Valley Chapter show at the Bridgewater Lawn Party grounds. Let’s hope for the same
weather as we had. Please do not forget that May 20 th is our chapter meeting at the Barbara Fritchie Restaurant, dinner at 6:30 with
meeting at 7:30. I will have the York show shirts at the meeting if you still need one before the show. To date we have made $1520
from this fundraiser. Hope to see you there or the next week after Memorial Day at the National Convention and show in York, PA.
The show is only 60 miles to the north and should be one to remember so come on up.

Dues and Membership
The policy of the ATHS and the bylaws of the Mason Dixon Chapter state you must be an ATHS member to be a member of the local
chapter. On the issue of dues, dues for the year are due by the Festivus in January. The chapter has to submit a list of members to the
ATHS by the 31st of January of each year. This is when the ATHS audits membership to see if the chapter members are ATHS
members. We will no longer carry members that are past due on their dues.
The Hood Scoop is published on the first week of the odd month when possible. Deadline for submission to the Calendar of Events and For Sale / Wanted is the
third Friday of the even month.
