PRESS RELEASE
Kick-off launch of the CAP communication project ‘CAP,
What’s cooking?’ in Milan, October 4.
September 2015
On Sunday, October 4, the Groupe de Bruges will officially launch its latest project ‘CAP
What’s cooking?. Recipes for understanding the Common Agricultural Policy’’, during a
public event in the center of Milan.
The event will start at 6 PM at the Italian Makers Village, located at via Tortona 32, in the center
of Milan, and will host a mix of cookery demonstrations, farmers’ portraits and presentations on
the relation between food, farming and the European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The event will be organised in close collaboration with the Slow Food Youth Network (SFYN) and
the European Young Farms Organisation (CEJA) in the framework of the ‘We feed the planet’
programme (www.wefeedtheplanet.com). Joris Lohman, Executive Committee for Slow Food
International said: “‘The Common Agricultural Policy is of crucial importance to every ‘eater’, yet
due to its complexity, many people do not understand what impact the CAP has on their daily
lives. I am very much looking forward to the launch of the ‘CAP, What’s cooking?’ project, to see
the faces of the young chefs and ‘foodies' that will work side-by-side with Europe’s young
farmers to explore the ’tasty’ side of agricultural policy!”.
The launch will mark the start of a new Groupe de Bruges’ project to communicate the CAP
2014-2020 to the general public. Following the Milan event, seven local events will be held in
March and April 2016 on farms across the European Union. Each will host a one day programme
of farm tours, cookery workshops by local chefs, CAP presentations by experts and stakeholders
as well as lunch- and dinner-debates.
In parallel a CAP Cook Book, both in hard copy and in HTML5 digital form, will be developed.
The beautifully designed book will include brief explanations on the various topics of the
Common Agricultural Policy, farm portraits and recipes from renowned, local chefs, using
products from the area. During the Milan event, the CAP Cook Book pre-ordering will officially
start.

About the ‘CAP, What’s cooking?’
The ‘CAP, What’s cooking’ Project has been built on the objective to increase and disseminate
the knowledge and discussion of the reformed CAP, and to make this rather complex policy also
accessible in a simple way to the general public.
The project is developed by the Groupe de Bruges in association with the Slow Food Youth
Network and CEJA. Co-financed by European Commission. With support from Eating City.
