The 2015 Regular Legislative Session
Week ten of the 2015 Regular Legislative
Session has ended. The deadline for
original floor action on appropriations and
revenue bills originating in other house is
March 17, 2015.
House Appropriation Committee
Adds $20 Million for LSBP in
State Aid’s Appropriation
On March 12, 2015, the Mississippi House
Appropriations Committee voted to add
$20 million more dollars to Senate Bill 2870.
This $20 million is earmarked for the Local
System Bridge Program (LSBP). This
measure also includes an additional $32
million for State Aid Road Construction.
Senate Bill 2870 in its current form will
send $52 million to county government for
infrastructure funding. (NOTE: SB2870 will
likely head to conference for further
conferencing. Please contact your local
legislators and request that they support
the version of SB2870 totaling $52 million
for county infrastructure funding.

Early Detection of Level Funding
Homestead Exemption
Reimbursement
Senate Bill 2864 contains the homestead
exemption reimbursement. The Senate
chamber passed out this reimbursement at
$84,454,641.00. (This is level funding
from last year)
$87,150,000.00 is
required for “FULL” funding.
On March 12, 2015, The Mississippi House
Appropriations
Committee
discussed
Senate Bill 2864 and passed it out of
committee without any changes in the
reimbursement.
Therefore,
the
reimbursement will be level funded if no
changes are made to the reimbursement.
NOTE: SB2870 will likely head to
conference for further conferencing.)
Please contact your local legislators and
request that they support “FULL” funding
of
the
homestead
exemption
reimbursement at $87,150,000.00.
NEXT WEEK’S COUNTIES PDD CAPITOL
VISIT
The ninth and tenth of ten PDD County
Capitol visits begins next week with the
North Delta PDD on Tuesday March 17th
and the Northeast PDD on Wednesday
March 18th . Supervisors will meet MAS
staff on the first floor of the Capitol at
9:00 am to receive handouts (talking
points).
