Globalization Infographic
Purpose:
In this project, the goal is to create an informational, educational infographic relating to an area of Globalization. You will deconstruct the
topic by identifying its component elements, identifying key vocabulary, finding concrete examples, explaining the pros and cons of your
topic, and its impact/significance.
Task:
Read and develop an understanding of an area of globalization and the global economy.
Creatively display your topic using visuals, data, and content.
Present your infographic to the class! Your task is to creatively get the class to understand the term or situation.
Topics:
US Economic Terms (Wall St, stock, stock market, The Dow, bear market, bull market, recession, depression, unemployment rate, inflation,
deflation, cost of living, mortgage, foreclosure, underwater, deficit, national debt, debt ceiling, stimulus, Federal Reserve)
Global Economic Terms (outsourcing, free trade, fair trade, dumping, trade deficit, quotas, tariffs, subsidy, bitcoin, crowdfunding,
microfinancing, etc.)
Organizations (IMF, World Bank, WTO, NAFTA, EU, G8, G20, MNC’s, Kiva.org)
Issues (Global Economic Crisis, Globalization & Nationalism, Trade & Migration, Cultural Globalization/Americanization, Rise of BRICS,
Foreign Aid i.e. Chinese investments in Africa, see me if you have your own)
Procedure:
 Decide on a topic & Complete research organizer. You MUST use in-text citations!!!
 Keep ongoing works pages (cited & consulted).
 Hand-sketch your infographic. Consider various ways to present conflict statistically, visually, contextually. Revisit resources like
Wolfram Alpha and other statistical sites. All materials must comply with copyright policy.
 Use various publishing tools to create your infographic.
 Post final infographic & works cited pages to class wiki.
 Share infographic topic with class – educate us!
Components:
The following must be included in your infographic (and must be justified for their usage!):
 At least 3 images pertaining to your topic. These should serve to illustrate the term or concept, not to be placed as “filler.” They
must be copyright-friendly and have in-text citation.
 At least 3 content blocks (information pertaining to your topic that aide in understanding.)
 1 chart, graph, or map that supports or includes topic data with written justification of inclusion and in-text citation.
 1 video (may be news piece or explanatory video about topic) with written justification of inclusion and in-text citation.
 Link to works pages with active hyperlinks. Make sure you’ve shared the document properly and that all sources have active
hyperlinks. WE ARE CHECKING YOUR RESOURCES!!!!
Length: Your entire presentation is to be in the 3-5 minute range. You will not be permitted to exceed 5 minutes in length. Be prepared for
questions from your classmates.
Audience: Classmates and teacher – assume limited knowledge of content
Elements of Final Product:
1. Infographic with hyperlinked works pages posted to class wikipage under “Globalization Project” tab.
2. Works cited & consulted pages for teacher, no hyperlinks.
3. Completed self-evaluation rubric – make sure you differentiate elements within categories!
Grading Criteria:
Projects are evaluated on the basis of content accuracy, evidence of preparation and creativity, and overall appearance. Note that
infographics and sources are to be posted on the wiki on the day the project is presented and is part of the grading process. Missing
postings will result in 10% overall daily deduction. See the attached rubric for specifics.
Integrity Expectations:
Your teacher expects that you are presenting an infographic based on diligent, scholarly research and complete understanding of the issue,
parties involved, and key events. All ideas and content should be original. All materials are to comply with copyright policy and you must
use in-text citations. All work should conform to the school integrity policy. All infographics must have proper works pages, or score “0.”
