Louisiana Historic Resource ID No: 10-00391
The property at 2227 Evergreen Road in Westlake, Calcasieu Parish is located on flat terrain in rural
setting. The house is sited on the east side of Evergreen Road and faces west. Built with a rectangular
core plan with an accretion of rear additions, this single-family residence is a circa 1960 Ranch
presenting minimal architectural detailing. The house’s main roof is comprised of a hip in the front and a
gable in the back. The exterior of the house is sided in a combination of T1-11 siding, as is evident on the
façade, as well as horizontal cementitious (fiber-cement) lapped siding. A single-bay-over-entry attached
front-gable porch is supported by plain square wood posts. The one-story single-family residence is
wood framed and sits on a raised foundation of concrete block piers with lattice-work infill. The house’s
complex main roof has a low pitch and is covered with asphalt shingles, as are all of the house addition’s
roof surfaces. The front elevation has three bays, with a single-leaf entry door as well as two Chicagostyle windows flanking opposite ends of the façade. The side and rear elevations, along with the
accretion of small additions, are fenestrated by double-hung, 2-over-2 horizontal muntin windows.
Though heavily altered, the exterior of the house appears to be in good-to-fair condition and does not
present significant evidence of damage or deterioration.
