4. Area of Scientific Activity
Surveillance and molecular characterization of Enterobacteriaceae isolates from different niches
producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and/or carbapenemases. Assessment of
the contribution of clones and/or plasmids in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes.
 Other professional interests/activities: Domain of different methods of determining
antibiotic susceptibility, several molecular genetic techniques (PCR, PFGE, MLST, Southern
blot, hybridization) and bioinformatics tools (BLAST, ClustalW, NEBcutter). Domain programs
for processing of statistical data (SPSS). Good ability to adapt to multicultural environments and
realities consolidated during the period of training abroad, both in personal and professional
contexts. Easy integration into teamwork and good communication skills.
