Variables
Independent variable – the variable that is changed by the scientist (changed by you)
Example: adding fertilizer to a plant – fertilizer is the independent variable
Dependent variable - The variable that YOU observe (the scientist can not control this)
Example: the height of the tomato plant is the dependent variable
Controlled experiment – an experiment in which all of the variables except one remain the same.
Constants – what remains the same in the experiment
Example: same amount of water, soil, sunlight, type of seed
