2016 Calendar of CoR Bureau and plenary session meetings

Introduction
In accordance with Rule 14(1) of the CoR Rules of Procedures, the dates of the plenary sessions are to
be fixed by the Bureau during the third quarter of the previous year.
When drawing up the draft schedule of meetings of the plenary sessions in 2016, several aspects were
taken into account, such as:







the organisation of one external Bureau meeting during each Presidency of the Council of the EU
as well as the organisation of the 7th European Summit of Regions and Cities;
the synergies between political agendas of the EU institutions with regard to the adoption of
CoR's opinions, including an enhanced cooperation with members of the European Parliament;
the agenda with regard to the adoption of the budget for 2017;
the Open Days event in the second week of October;
the availability of the hemicycles and other meeting rooms;
the results of discussions with the EESC, in full compliance with the CoR/EESC cooperation
agreement and its impact on workload of the translation, IT and infrastructure departments;
the Committee's own internal deadlines and the respect of the 2016 bank holidays.
A complete version of this schedule, including all commissions and CFAA meetings, will be
communicated to all Committee members before the end of the year.
