Business activity report 2014–2015 financial year
This report provides statistics for land registration and property information services conducted at the Land
Registration Services area of Land Victoria.
As well as figures for the 2014–2015 financial year, statistics are also provided for previous years.

Number of dealings lodged
The number of dealings lodged for the financial year was 792,335. This is a 5 per cent increase on the 2013–

9.4 Differences in lodging levels and percentages of discharges, transfers and
mortgages
Over time, the number and relative percentages in the lodgement levels of the three most common
transactions vary.
These variations are shown below.
The average for each of the dealing types for the 2014–2015 financial year is as follows:

Plans of subdivision were 1.04 per cent of all dealings lodged.
These plans of subdivision are captured in the Victorian Online Title System (VOTS) as ‘PS’ transaction
types.

Another plan type of transaction is captured as a ‘PS35’. These are for compulsory acquisitions of property
to assist with, for example, the building of major roads. In the 2014–2015 financial year there were 151 of
these transactions lodged.
A further plan type of transaction is a ‘SA32PS’. This plan type transaction occurs typically in the
redevelopment in an owners corporation. In the 2014–2015 financial year there were 211 of these
transactions lodged, down slightly from the 229 lodged in the 2013–2014 financial year.

10 Other measures of Land Registration Services activity
10.1 Registrations
10.1.1 Number of dealings registered
The number of transactions registered in the 2014–2015 financial year was 797,845.
10.1.2 Percentage of dealings registered within 5 days
The average percentages achieved were greater than 99 per cent for the whole of the financial year.
10.1.3 Number of plans registered
The number of plans registered for the financial year was 8,023.
10.1.4 Percentage of plans registered within 15 days
The average percentage achieved was 91.0 per cent or greater for the whole of the financial year.
10.1.5 Number of dealings refused
The number of dealings refused for this financial year was 33,422. This represents 4.04 per cent of total
dealings presented for acceptance at Land Victoria for the financial year.
In the 2013–2014 financial year 41,344 dealings were refused, which represented 5.24 per cent of total
dealings presented for acceptance at Land Victoria.
10.1.6 Number of dealings waiting to be processed
The number of dealings waiting to be processed in this financial year has stabilised. The ‘holding level’ at
the commencement of the financial year was 2,230. For the majority of this year that figure has been less
than 2,500. The majority, if not all of these dealings, will be in a processing state that requires attention
from customers, or cannot be processed until a statutory period has elapsed. As at 1 July 2014 the figure
was 2,635.
10.1.7 Folios of the Register
Activity in lodgement and registration processing results in changes to how many folios of the register are
in existence at any one time. For the 2014–2015 financial year 57,687 new lots were created. This figure is
reasonably consistent with around 55,000 new lots created each year.

11 Electronic transactions processing
11.1 Electronic Conveyancing (through PEXA)
Transacting electronically has seen a sharp rise in activity in the 2014–2015 financial year. There are now
more than 650 active subscribers, i.e. those who have signed up and whose accounts are still active.
The number of transactions lodged through PEXA in the 2014–2015 financial year was 18,436, a sharp
increase from 12,743 in 2013–2014.
