E.M. JOHNSON ESSAY PRIZE CONTEST ENTRY FORM
At its 2015 Convention, Telluride Association announced an essay contest in honor of
former Telluride Association Chancellor E.M. Johnson on the theme of "The Purpose, Promise,
and Practices of Telluride Association.” The contest is open to all Association alumni not
currently members of Telluride Association. Entrants should submit essays of no more than
1,000 words (double spaced) to the Telluride Association Office on or before January 6, 2016.
(Deadline Extended!) Please consult the Formatting Guidelines sheet posted on the website for
more details on how to format your essay.
The essay contest has two divisions: I. Essays by applicants who have not yet earned their
bachelor's degree at the time of the submission and II. Essays by applicants who have
received their bachelor's degree at the time of submission. The first prize in each division is
$1000; the second prize is $750 and the third prize is $500.
The Awards Committee will select entries for prizes based on their depth of analysis and
grace in verbal expression; essays should observe the norms of academic punctuation and style.
The Committee will announce the winners by February 2016.
To enter the contest, please fill out the following information, save this form as a separate
file under your own name, and send an e-mail message containing your completed entry form
along with an electronic file containing your essay in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format to the Ithaca
Office of Telluride Association (telluride@tellurideassociation.org). You should include the
words “Johnson Essay Prize” in the subject line of your e-mail message.
