Aims:
I am a diligent and hardworking individual, prepared for my first career within your company. I
am heavily motivated when it comes to achieving my best and have succeeded in obtaining an
MSc in Geological and Environmental Hazards and a BSc in Geology and Geography. I have
proven my capability both independently and in group activities with strong problem solving and
analytical skills developing strongly. I have built skills in GIS and geological mapping,
exploration geology, geological and environmental sciences, surveying and geoengineering. I am
passionate about a career with an outstanding company as yours and would love to work in a
career that incorporates my skills in Geology and the Environment, as well as, developing my
potential.
Achievements:
My main achievements have been in my charity and volunteering work. I gain enjoyment from my
charity work and have successfully lead fundraising campaigns for Cancer Research, Sense,
Magnet High School in Kenya, an expedition in Tanzania and others. My single greatest
fundraising stunt was a Skydive, where I raised over £2500 to build wells in Nairobi. Future work
will be with the Kent Wildlife Association were I hope to work to preserve the countryside.
Education:
MSc Geological and Environmental Hazards
Sept 2012- Sept 2013
University of Portsmouth
A highly analytical masters involving the investigation of hazards, and developing skills including
VBA codes, creating and analysing landslide maps and using ARCMAP to design a unique risk
assessment model.
Thesis Title: Hazard Model to Examine the Risk Posed by Cliff Instability: A Case Study Lulworth Cove.
A research thesis where independent geological mapping and laboratory work was undertaken.
The thesis involved enhancing skills in ARCMAP and surveying ordinance, aerial and LIDAR
maps and designing a new model that combined a range of factors together. Field observations,
field notes and historical evidence compiled were key to developing the thesis.
 Course modules:
Focus was primarily on developing skills and designing models in ARCMAP, ROCFALL and
VBA coding. Case studies and field work included developing an ash cloud model over
Guatemala and investigating the volcanology and tectonics on an expedition to Sicily. Geomechanics was a core aspect focusing on core samples and engineering geology.
 Other modules included:
Field experience gave a chance to map and examine the volcanic and seismic activity at Mt. Etna
and create a model detailing previous/potential lava flows and creating a series of datasets
detailing the hazards posed at Etna. Other study sites included studying geo morph in the
Cotswolds and working with cliff instability on the Isle of Wight.
BSc Geography and Geology: 2.2
Sept 2009- June 2012
University of Keele
Geology Dissertation: Cantabria: Geological Mapping Interpretation: San Emiliano Region.
Geography Dissertation: How’ve Commerce, Locality and Migration Transformed Toronto?
 Geology course modules:
Focus was centred on skills in sedimentology, mapping and field work. Skills were obtained in
logging, analysing core samples, studying the landscape and designing geological interpretations
during field excavations. Independent field work was undertaken in Cantabria where formations
and tectonic activity had to be interpreted in mountainous terrain of 10km².
 Geography course modules:
Focus was on natural and human environmental impacts as well as studying a range of landscapes,
from deserts to tundra plains. Field work included excavation of the Almeria landscape, where
group work was the key element to success and Apedale coal mines to research an industrial
setting. Independent work was built on understanding city development, trade and industry in
Toronto.
BSc (Semester Exchange) in Geography and Geology
Sept 2010- Dec 2010
University of Guelph
Awarded place at University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; exchange program for four months in
second year. A module and interview process had to be completed to be able to advance with my
international travel.
 Course modules:
Modules included analysis of rocks and minerals from North America. Field work focused on
mineral exploration in Bancroft and geological mapping around Hamilton.
Royal Russell School
Sept 2002 – June 2009
Croydon, Surrey, United Kingdom (Including A-Level in English and As-Level in Maths)
Technical Skills:
 IT:
Strong technical skills including ability to work in advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and
Powerpoint. Experienced use of ARCMAP, LIDAR, and VBA.
 Manual Driving License
Own a manual car with Pass Plus Certification
Memberships (current):
 Geological Society of London- Fellow (Current), Kent Wildlife Trust (Current)
 Geo’ Soc' – Keele University, Keele Environmental Society, Keele International Group,
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
Work Experience/Volunteering:
 Coffee Creek Ranch, Trinity County, California
2012 - 2012
International work where I was quickly elevated to higher duties when they found me capable and
hardworking. Work included groundskeeper, child minding and forestry. I was elevated to
wrangler where I readied horses, prepped people and lead family groups along mountain routes.
 Amiran, Nairobi, Kenya
2011 - 2011
Unpaid work with a multinational company, working in horticulture, trying to create more
environmental and economic ways of farming. My job was to travel to various sites in groups and
analyse farms and activities. I found new skills in business management, sales and international
relations.
 Sense Volunteer, UK
2011 - 2012, 2014
And Cancer Research Volunteer, UK
2007 - 2011
Charity work is important in my life and I have been fortunate to work raising money and
interacting with people, either colleagues or customers. In both cases I managed customer
interactions and headed groups of three to four people on their duties and goals of the day. Since
2007 I have collected thousands of pounds to combat both Cancer and Deaf-Blindness.
My volunteering has often taken me overseas, as far as Tanzania, where in a group I helped erect a
church, visited a school and lead activities.
