For all middle school students who completed Algebra 1.
The assessment includes a constructed response section
that must be scored by teachers and results entered into
the online system. Video and Powerpoint tutorials and
guidelines for implementation can be found at the bottom
of http://achieve.lausd.net/Page/6127. After June 4,
teachers, support staff, and administrators at the high
schools will be able to view the results for their incoming
9th grade students.
42-item assessment includes a constructed response
section that must be scored by teachers and entered into
the online system by May 29th. Video and Powerpoint
tutorials as well as guidelines for the 2014-15 online

The results from this assessment will be used to determine
appropriate placement and interventions for students as
they enter 7th grade in the 2015-2016 school year and may
be viewed through MiSiS by teachers, support staff, and
administrators at the middle schools after June 4, 2015.
The professional development will cover the new math
adoption textbooks for the following courses: Algebra I,
Geometry, and Algebra II. Registration is open to all
Secondary math teachers currently teaching or scheduled
to teach CC Algebra I, CC Geometry, and CC Algebra II,
Special Education, RSP, SDC (mild-to-moderate) teachers
supporting the above courses are invited to participate as
well. Math coaches and out-of-the classroom math
support coordinators may also register. Registration is

For middle school mathematics teachers who have not
been trained on the middle school adopted textbooks.

One-day professional development for teachers who are
teaching ALEKS Mathematics Intervention in the 20152016 school year. Registration is through the Learning
Zone. Search keyword: ALEKS.

Participants: Teachers who will be teaching Read
180/System 44 in 2015-16 and who have never taught the
program before and/or who have not taught it in the last
two years.
Joel Breakstone and Brad Fogo, from the Stanford History
Education Group (SHEG) will be here to lead LAUSD teachers
through a one-day training on Reading Like a Historian (RLH).
The RLH curriculum embodies the instructional shifts required
by the Common Core State Standards. RLH makes disciplinary,
historical inquiry accessible to diverse groups of learners. A
disciplinary approach to history instruction engages students in
the creation of historical knowledge. With this approach,
students read closely, evaluate, and interpret historical sources
in order to use text-based evidence to reach a conclusion. To
