Inappropriate dress for senior functions includes, but is not limited to, jeans, sunglasses, headgear, athletic shoes, and shorts. Inappropriate behavior or dress may result in disciplinary measures. Senior dress and behavior at all senior events must comply with all dress codes and school rules set forth in the Student Handbook as well as this handout. PROM April 20-24: Prom Tickets will be on sale in Room 631 before and after school for $30.00 (cash only) per person. After April 24th the price will be $35.00 and tickets will be sold at announced times only. Only currently enrolled MHS seniors and juniors may purchase tickets. An MHS photo ID is required. One person may buy a maximum of two tickets. The person for whom you buy a ticket must attend and enter the Prom with you; sophomores or other guests may attend only if escorted by a currently enrolled MHS senior or junior. Any student who does not attend MHS must have a guest form on file. Guest forms may be obtained from Ms. Higbe in Room 631. Prom photos may be taken by appointment from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on May 9 at Blunck’s Studio, 228 W. Main, or at the Prom on May 9 from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Ballroom. Pre-Prom picture packets will be sold in the cafeteria. May 9: The Prom will be from 8:00 p.m. to 11:55 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Norman. In order to be admitted, both you and your guest must have a ticket and a photo ID. No one will be admitted unless accompanied by a currently enrolled MHS senior or junior. All students and their guests must adhere to all Prom and all school rules. Hors d’oeuvres and entertainment will be provided. A coat/hat check stand, located in the ballroom, will be provided by the Junior Class, free of charge. All hats and canes must be checked upon entering. No one may leave the Prom and return later. Any person who smells of alcohol or appears to be under the influence of an illegal substance will be turned over to the on-duty Oklahoma City police officers and school administrators. Smoking is prohibited! Proper formal attire is required. Ladies should wear a formal dress and dress shoes. Men should wear formal dress, including a dress shirt, dress slacks (no black jeans or Wranglers), a dress coat, dress socks, and dress shoes. Those dressed inappropriately will not be admitted and will not be given a refund. Senior Activities March 31-April 2: Seniors may pick up their orders of announcements, caps, and gowns in the Lecture Center from 11:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Your balance is due at the time of delivery. May 5-15: Before school and both lunches in Room 742 Senior Breakfast tickets will be sold for $15.00 (cash only, NO CHECKS) per senior. Only currently enrolled seniors may attend. No breakfast tickets will be sold at the Moore Norman Technology Center South Penn Campus. May 13: Junior escorts and announcers will be released by intercom from 5th hour to report to the main floor of the large gym for a training session. These students will miss the remainder of 5th hour. May 19: MHS will present Senior the MHS Auditorium area from Athletic, military, and academic presented. A reception to honor the the ceremony. Scholarship Night in 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. awards will also be recipients will follow May 14: MHS is proud of Senior Dress-Up Day. It is required for ladies to wear a dress or blouse/skirt (white is traditional) and dress shoes. It is required for men to wear a dress shirt, tie, slacks, and dress shoes. Being part of this tradition allows the entire school to recognize your achievement and to honor you as a senior. Report to zero and first hours as usual. You will be dismissed by intercom at approximately 8:30 a.m. for the Senior Group Photo which you may order from Candid Color. Payment must be made at the time of the order. Checks should be made payable to Candid Color, and any questions regarding your order should be directed to Candid Color Customer Service at 951-7300. Order forms (with pricing) will be distributed to you through English classes and should be brought with you when the photo is taken. Seniors will return to class after the photo is taken. All seniors should wear the graduation gown, but not the cap nor any hoods / cords / sashes / etc, for this photo. Women must wear a dress and dress shoes; men must wear a dress shirt, a tie, dress slacks, and dress shoes. Without these, you will not be photographed with the group. No one may wear headgear of any kind or sunglasses. Any inappropriate behavior or gestures during the photo session may result in suspension from school and all remaining senior activities, including graduation and final exams. 1:11 p.m.: Seniors will report to the gym’s main floor for the first Commencement practice. This practice is REQUIRED for participation in Commencement. All seats for graduation exercises will be assigned at this practice, and roll will be taken. Do not bring the cap and gown to this practice. Appropriate school dress is required. May 17: The Moore Ministerial Alliance invites you to celebrate the Baccalaureate service at Crossroads Church (8901 SW 89th and Shields Blvd.) at 3:00 p.m. Seniors choosing to participate must arrive no later than 2:30 and wear graduation gown (no cap). Senior ladies must wear dresses and dress shoes; gentlemen must wear a dress shirt, tie, dress slacks, dress socks, and dress shoes. Gentlemen should not wear a suit coat under their gowns. Any Senior wearing jeans, shorts, athletic shoes, sandals, or other inappropriate clothing will not be allowed to participate. Do not chew gum! Commencement May 19: At 9:30 a.m., seniors will gather for the Senior Breakfast in the Conference Center of the Moore Norman Technology Center South Penn Campus (SW 134th and Pennsylvania Ave.) in Oklahoma City. Seniors will not be admitted without a ticket (tickets will NOT be sold at the door) and must dress appropriately. Senior men must wear a dress shirt, tie, dress slacks and dress shoes. Senior women must wear a dress and dress shoes. Faddish clothes will not be tolerated. Any senior not appropriately dressed will be denied admission and will not be given a refund. Smoking is prohibited! (May 19th cont’d.) Second Commencement practice at Moore High School on the main floor of the gym will begin at 1:11 p.m. Seniors must attend the second REQUIRED commencement practice held in the MHS Gym. Roll will be taken! May 23: At 9:30 a.m., Commencement will take place in the Great Arena of the Cox Convention Center. Seniors must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. Wear both cap and gown and dress appropriately as noted for the Baccalaureate service and for the Senior Breakfast. Any senior not dressed appropriately will not be allowed to participate and will be pulled from the line. During commencement, do not chew gum! Also do not tape, paint, pin, or otherwise deface your cap or gown with any sort of message! Violation of these or other school rules may result in the diploma being withdrawn and held. Please remember that graduation is a privilege and not a right! You should also obey all laws. You are subject to arrest by the Oklahoma City police for the use of alcohol or any illegal substance, for the possession or use of fireworks, or for disruptive behavior. Smoking is prohibited. Parking for the Commencement ceremony Saturday morning, parking will be available in the Cox Convention Center underground garage at a cost of no less than $8 per car and in ground-level parking lots at a cost of no less than $8 per car. Year-End Activities May 15: 10:45-3:11 Senior Class Yearbook distribution and cookout Seniors will be released by intercom. Semester Tests for Seniors: May 26: Hour 0, 1, 3, 5 May 27: Hour 0, 2, 4, 6 June 12: Diplomas will be available in the Main Office from 9:00 a.m. until noon (unless a hold has been placed on the record). You must turn in your MHS photo ID to claim the diploma. Two official eight-semester transcripts will be given to each 2015 graduating senior along with your diploma. If more transcripts are needed, you may order and prepay at diploma pick-up. They will be ready June 19, if preordered/prepaid by June 12th (pick-up in the Main Office/Registrar’s Office—Jana Hodge). If you will need a transcript mailed to you, you must provide a selfaddressed, stamped envelope and $0.25 for the transcript. The cost of a transcript will increase to $1.00 each starting June 22nd. Moore Public Schools requires that students have 22 credits and lack no more than one core credit in order to participate in the commencement ceremony and must have 23 credits, in the appropriate course work, to receive a diploma.
