Working Research Plan
EAP 508 Yenny Kim
As you conduct research, you will need to continually update your research plan, particularly your object of study, driving
questions, and key concepts. As you complete your Independent Analysis Forms and continue researching your object of study,
keep this plan up to date.
Your Driving Questions. Write the driving questions for your project. As your driving questions change, add new ones here.
How the exact factors of breastfeeding impact on mothers and infants?
What are the components of mother-milk which cannot be replaced by artificial formula or milk powder?
How the health of Fetus before born can impact after born? (during life time)
What are the long-term benefits of breast feeding?
Your Project. Fill in the underlined sections in the sentence below with information related to your project (i.e. object of study,
research question, and significance).
I am studying (or researching) [to find valuable components of mother-milk which can be extracted and saved for a
long time period, and to find alternative staff covering breastfeeding for babies who could not have breastfeeding /
to find a relationship between the health of fetus and the health of after born] because I want to find out [an actual
relationship between breastfeeding and health of fetus, infant and mother] in order to [I could knew that there is
little clear result to find exact mother-milk components and the relationship between breastfeeding and health of
mothers and babies. / There are a lot of debate that fetus’ health could impact on adult’s health despite a long time
past].

Your Argumentative Edge. Li (2008) explained that argumentative academic writing "uses new evidence or new theory to
problematize, complicate, extend, reinterpret, or... challenge or even reject the existing knowledge" (p. 48). In a paragraph or two,
explain the edge of your own project (e.g. will your project problematize, complicate, or reinterpret some theory or evidence to a new
context?), giving details about what has been done, what has not yet been done (the edge), and how you plan to explore this edge.
There are a number of research on breast feeding related to view of nursing, pediatrics, but only few of nutrition. Also, even there are a
number of studies which are related to short-term benefits of breast feeding, not long-term. Especially, I want to compare the health of adults who
had breast feeding or not at long last. I really wonder about exact effects related to breast feeding in later life health or eating habits. I know it is
hard to gather the results from people who had breast feeding when he was infant because there are a plenty of factors on his health except
breast feeding. In addition, this question had been occurred by many researchers before. However, I will be able to make conclusions or findings
about it if I focus on specific region such as South Korea. This is because, I was born in South Korea, I can survey people who had breast feeding
or not, and except the general Korean environment factors that could impact on one’s health or eating habits.

Your Key Concepts. Fill out the matrix below with the key concepts from your project in order of relevance (e.g. the most
relevant concept should be first). Update your concepts as you learn more about them and as you add to them.
