10 Easy Steps for Writing Your Research Paper
1. Based on your interests and future plans, choose a major Fortune
500 company that you may one day find yourself working for. For
example, if you really enjoy sports, you may one day work for Nike; if you want to pursue a future in
the oil industry, Exxon Mobil might be the company for you!
2. Begin Researching the company you have chosen. Remember, you must use reputable sources such
as Google Scholar, EBSCOHost, OhioLink and some business magazines and/or websites. You must
have a minimum of THREE sources.
3. Your Research Questions should be:
1. What is this company most known for?
2. What is the history behind this company?
3. How long has this company been successful (i.e. a Fortune 500 company)?
4. What are the company’s S.W.O.T.’s (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities
and Threats?
After doing the research, consider…
5. Is this company a good company to work for? Why or why not?
6. Could I see myself working here? Why or why not?
4. Be sure to turn in your THREE REPUTIBLE SOURCES in MLA format- details count!
5. Read your research for Relevant Information- highlight, take notes and when you realize you need
more info.- do more research!
6. Use multiple sources to gain credibility. Integrate Sources and …do more research if you don’t have

5. Begin the OUTLINE for your RESEARCH PAPER
6. Begin writing the Research Paper
7. Revise the Research Paper- you must have a reliable person revise your paper.
8. Begin POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
9. Prepare to present your research… REHEARSE!!!
10. Present your Fortune 500 research (as your Final Exam!)
