Circus Kids can do
Here’s what we are doing...
Reading: This week your child will be exploring text and graphic features. Students will identify and
explore non-fiction text features including the table of contents, headings and subheadings, bold print,
photographs, captions, glossary, and index. Students will also explore how specific images contribute and
clarify a text.
Spelling/ELA: This week your child will be learning about words with common final blends; nd, ng, nk, nt,
ft, xt, and mp. We will c0ntinue learning about nouns. Students will explore singular and plural nouns.
Students will learn how to change singular nouns into plural nouns and will be able to identify irregular
plural nouns. Students will also learn how to change nouns that end in –y to –ies to make them plural and
–f to –ves to make them plural.
Writing: This week we will focus on using what we know from the writing process to create a Halloween
Writing Piece. Students will explore the story elements needed to create a fictional story including
setting, characters and the plot.
The writing process: pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing, conferencing, publishing, and sharing!
Math: We will be continue learning about place value! Students will begin to explore ways to compare
numbers using all number forms; quick draw, standard form, word form, and expanded form. Students will
explore comparing numbers using >,<, or = symbols.
Social Studies: Students will continue learning about communities and neighborhoods. Students will
explore the features of urban, suburban, and rural areas of the local region. Students will also learn
about the characteristics of the local region, including geographic features, landforms, and natural
resources. TEST ON FRIDAY!
Paint the School Pink!
Beginning Monday, October 7th through Friday,
October 18th, you can purchase a paintbrush “In
Memory of” or “In Honor of” someone. The
cost is $1.00 per paintbrush. On Oct. 24th, if
your child purchased a paintbrush, he/she will
be able to dress in all PINK!!!! 

Student of the Month
Abby Pomeroy
Abby is the October Student of the Month! She
has exemplified good character and behavior for
the whole month of September! She has been
following the classroom and school rules and is a
great example to others! Abby is very respectful
and considerate of others in and outside of the
classroom and has been Soaring to Success.
Way to go Abby!!!
Fall Carnival- Oct. 25th
If anyone would be interested in
decorating a class pumpkin to auction off
at the fall carnival, please let me know!
Also, let me know if you would like to
volunteer to help facilitate the games!

need me to send the letter again, please let me
know!
Please sign your child’s behavior log daily! 
Please make sure that your child is getting plenty
of rest and are well prepared for school.
Please make sure that you are taking a moment
each night to talk with your child about his/her
day! 
