MONDAY 25TH TO SUNDAY 31ST MARCH 2013
The Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) fluctuated between latitude 12.0oN and
latitude 14.6oN in the western border of the country and between latitude 9oN
and latitude 14oN in the eastern border. Its mean positions in the western and
eastern borders are 13.2oN and 11.2oN respectively. The maximum temperature
range was between 42oC at Potiskum and 32oC at Portharcourt. The minimum
temperature range was between 27oC at Ibi and 18oC at Jos. The relative
humidity ranged between 99% at Calabar and 10% at Potiskum. It was partly
cloudy to cloudy conditions with warm afternoon and cool night prevailed most
of the period. Calabar recorded the highest cumulative rainfall of 110.0mm for
the week.
MONDAY (25TH): Generally fine weather conditions prevailed across the
country with isolated cases of moderate visibility in hazy weather conditions.
Only Calabar in the South experienced thunderstorms with rainfall amount of
42.6mm. The maximum temperature range was between 40oC at Katsina and
29oC at Owerri.
TUESDAY (26TH): Generally fine weather conditions prevailed across the
country with hazy atmosphere. However, thundery activities were experienced
over the south western parts with Oshogbo recorded 29.3mm rainfall, Ikeja
4.3mmm, and Lagos Marine 7.3mm. The maximum temperature range was
between 41oC at Katsina, (and Yelwa) and 33oC at Jos.
WEDNESDAY (27TH): Fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the
country except Abeokuta that had 0.5mm of rainshowers. The maximum
temperature range was between 40oC at Bauchi (and Gombe) and 32oC at
Oshogbo.
THURSDAY (28TH): Thundery activities were experienced in some part of the
country. Abuja had 4.7mm rainfall, Akure 33.0mm, Benin 40.4mm, Ibadan
16.2mm, Ikeja 0.5mm, Kaduna 13.6mm, Makurdi 24.4mm, and Warri 10.7mm.
The maximum temperature range was between 38oC at Makurdi and 32oC at
Owerri.
FRIDAY (29TH): Fine weather conditions prevailed generally across the
country. However Ilorin experienced rainshowers of 1.0mm. The maximum
temperature range was between 42oC at Potiskum and 28oC at Iseyin.
SATURDAY (30TH): Generally fine weather conditions prevailed with isolated
cases of thunderstorm in few places. Calabar reported 63.3mm of rainfall, Ilorin
47.8mm, Jos 0.5mm, Lokoja 7.1mm, and Minna 0.5mm respectively. The
maximum temperature range was between 40oC at Kano and 29oC at Jos.
SUNDAY (31ST): Fine weather conditions prevailed except Calabar, Makurdi
and Lafia that experienced thunderstorms with 4.1mm, 19.8mm, and 17.2mm
rainfall respectively. Maximum temperature ranged between 40oC at Gombe
(and Yelwa) and 29oC at Kaduna.
