REPORTS SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD:
Public Relations/Marketing Subcommittee Meeting Update for the March 12, 2015 FFB
Meeting
A double sided insert about LCS was placed in the SJV bulletin.
A couple of more testimonials from families have been solicited and collected.
Mike Puthoff communicated with the webmaster for OLOL website. He added a front page link
on for Starry Night. He also increased the size of the link to the LCS website. Mrs. Lawrence
increased the size and placement of the link to the OLOL church website.
Mrs. Lawrence increased the emphasis of financial assistance under the tuition portion of the
LCS website. Also added an Embracing Your Future statement and link on the front page
scroller of the website.
Ms. Alongi got a quote from Pear Advertising on producing and printer a booklet on LCS and
that was going to be $3000. Mike Puthoff did some research into other companies in town and
did not find much on places that could could professionally produce a booklet. Decision that
there was not money in the budget for a $3000 booklet cost.
Ms. Alongi has a brochure for FAST that Mrs. Lawrence will try to convert into something for
the general school.
To Do List
 We will be working with Mrs. Lawrence to develop a 2 minute video about the school to put
on the website. (I couldn’t hear the video from Starry Night during the event wondering if
that could be altered or used in some way).
 Need to assist Mrs. Lawrence and Ms. Alongi about the brochure.

Teacher Report to the Faith Formation Board
March 2015
Kindergarten:
KA has been busy learning about Lent, Dr. Seuss and the importance of reading, the starting of
geometry (two and three dimensional shapes), along with review of Voweletics charting,
vowels, and songs. We are getting ready for Spring Break and St. Patrick's Day so we have done
some "Spring" themed crafts and activities.
Second Grades:
We made 3-D models of the Pyramids of Giza, wrapping up telling time and money, and we are
practicing story mapping.
Fourth Grades:
4A invited visitors to attend their "museum of historical figures" last Friday. We had parents,
grandparents, and a few classes visit our displays.
We have been working on identifying the different ways that text can be structured. We are
also working on a poetry unit.
Father Crossen came in on Monday to talk about the First Five Commandments with us.
Principal’s Report to the Faith Formation Board
March 12th, 2015
Leadership of School Culture and Instruction:
1. Enrollment as of 3/5/15:
 240 K-8 students
 36 Three-year olds
 77 Four-year olds
 353 Total enrollment
2. Preschool/PreK:
 As of 3/5/2015, for 2015-16, we have 2 slots total available in the PM 4-year
old classes.
 We have 6 slots available in the 2-day 3-year old class.
 AM 4-year old classes are full, as is the 3-day 3-year old class.
3. K-5:
 Two proposals for K-5 staffing for next year are attached.
 Iowa Tier/FAST test results so far (K-6) attached .
 A brochure I developed that explains FAST is also attached.
4. Middle School:
 Two proposals for middle school staffing for next year are attached.
 Feb. 11 email results from 5th-7th grade families representing 66 5th-7th grade
students:
o 52 students will “definitely” or “probably” enroll in Lourdes for next
year.
o 9 students’ parents did not reply to the 2/11 email, nor to a follow-up
email on 2/18.
o 5 students’ parents are undecided [reasons given were confirmation
(1), combining 6th grade into one 7th grade homeroom (2), and math
teacher (2).]
Managerial Leadership:
1. Staffing for next year is a work in progress. After April 8th, I hope to have a better
idea of our enrollment numbers (since April 9 begins late registration and fee
increases to $100 per child).
2. Reduction in staff notices are due March 31 according to Dr. Morrison (even though
Policy 433 says April 15 – I am asking Dr. Morrison to clarify). I’d like to discuss these
briefly in closed session.
3. Formal observations have been completed as of March 9th. Comprehensive formal
evaluations are due for every teachers with three years or less at Lourdes, and for
veteran teachers once every three years. Six are due by May 15th for this year.
4. I will also evaluate all non-teaching/hourly staff on an annual basis. There are 11
staff members that I will evaluate with input from others. Mr. Weaver will evaluate
his staff. Jill Trannel will evaluate LLL House and BASC staff (if they work 20 or more
hours per week), as well as her PS teacher’s aide. Those who work fewer than 20
hours a week will not be formally evaluated, as per Jill. All evaluations are due by
May 15 (April 15 only if they might be reduced - a personal advanced deadline I set
for myself, Jill, and David.)
Public Relations/Marketing Leadership:
1. We need a trifold/brochure to keep in the office and to provide to OLOL and SJV –
due to cost, I may work with Miranda Lawrence to design our own and send it out to
be printed on nice paper.
Faith Formation Leadership:
1. I’m sharing my own “KIC” experiences in the Monday Messages.
2. I’m getting more organized in that I am now providing Fr. Jason with discussion
topics ahead of time for his Monday visits to classrooms.
