additional material on collateral families as well as many
photographs, maps and copies of documents.
1.ISAAC ROSE
Isaac Rose, a son of Ezekiel Rose, was born in Chambersburg,
Franklin (now Cumberland) County, Pennsylvania about 1753 and died in
Nicholas County, VA (WV) February 17, 1829.
In his declaration for a pension before the Nicholas County
Court on September 7, 1819, Isaac stated that he served in the
Revolutionary War, enlisting in Monongahela County in 1777.
He
also stated that he served in the 13th State of Virginia Regiment
commanded by Colonel John Gibson and that he served until 1780,
when he was discharged in Monongahela County. (His pension claim is
numbered W5713.)
He married Margaret Forsythe in Pennsylvania. Margaret was
born November 8, 1757 and died November 30, 1843 in Braxton County, VA
(WV). According to various informants, Isaac and Margaret were married
about 1784 and moved to Monroe County, VA. About 1797, they moved from
Monroe County to Bath County, VA. About 1812, they moved to Nicholas
County, VA (WV).
According to William Rose's declaration before the Braxton
County, VA Court, May 20, 1846, his mother Margaret made her home
with him from about 1830 until her death in 1843.

William Rose, a son of Isaac and Margaret (Forsythe) Rose, was
born August 20, 1784 in Monroe County VA and died August 4, 1871 in
Braxton County, WV. William served twice in the War of 1812. He was
discharged from Capt. Kyles Company of the Virginia Militia in 1813
or 1814. (See National Archives Bounty Land File #SO 12560-160-150
and National Archives SO 7516, SC 8212).
He married Martha Persinger in Botetourt County, VA October
27, 1815. Martha, a daughter of Jacob and Mary (Kimberlin) Persinger,
was born in Virginia August 20, 1784 and died in Braxton County, WV
August 4, 1871.

Virginia, probably in Monroe County, about 1795. He married Anne Butcher in
Botetourt County, VA August 23, 1814. Anne, a daughter of Jacob Butcher, was
born in Germany about 1802.

born in Virginia about 1795 and died in Braxton County, WV April 3,
1871. He married Susanna Harmon in Botetourt County, VA. Susanna was
born about 1805 and died of typhoid in 1846. After Susanna's death,
Ezekiel married Agness ---.

1.ISAAC ROSE
Alexander Rose, a son of Ezekiel and Susanna (Harmon) Rose, was
born in Braxton County, VA (WV) in 1829 and died December 7, 1914. He
married Susan Ann Murphy December 13, 1847. Susan, a daughter of John
Jarrett and Louisa (Wilson) Murphy, was born June 30, 1833 and died
County December 13, 1873. He later married Eunice Ayer Lewis. Eunice
was born at Williamsville, New York August 11, 1834.
The family moved to Illinois in 1854 and moved to Vernon County
MO by flat boat in 1858. They moved to Douglas county KS by covered
wagon during 1862 or 1863. Alexander bought 80 acres of land in
Douglas County from Robert and Margaret Berry February 18, 1864.
Alexander volunteered to serve in the Civil War at Lawrence,
Kansas March 22, 1864. He enlisted as a private in Co. E, 11th
Regiment, Kansas Cavalry. He was transferred to Co M April 18, 1864
and was mustered out with that company September 26, 1865.
Alexander and Susan Ann (Murphy) Rose are buried at Oak Hill
Cemetery at Lawrence, KS.

George Washington Rose, a son of Ezekiel and Susanna (Harmon)
Rose, was born in Braxton County VA (WV) July 24, 1830. He married
Elizabeth Ann Murphy. Elizabeth, a daughter of John Jarrett and
Louisa (Wilson) Murphy, was born in Braxton county August 1, 1835.
They moved to Vernon County MO about 1855 and are listed in the
census of that county in 1860. It seems that George must have died
after 1860, perhaps in the Civil War, and Elizabeth married James W.
Pogue. James Pogue, with wife Elizabeth and Agatha Rose, James M.
Rose and Agnes Rose is listed in the 1870 census of Douglas County KS.

and was born in Braxton County VA in 1838 and died August 12, 1866.
Her first husband was Joseph Harrison. Her second husband was Perry
Weatherhead Harrison. He was born November 15, 1826.

and was discharged May 3, 1865.
Mortimore and Leah Tabitha Morrison eloped and were married in
Green County PA May 19, 1869. Leah, a daughter of James W. and Nancy
(Grimes) Morrison, was born in Braxton County September 15, 1849 and
died there March 12, 1929.

in KY about 1834 and had married Thomas Butler in kanawha County Va
(WV) June 2, 1854. Thomas, a son of Benjamin and Delilah Butler, was
born about 1833 and was killed in the Civil War.
