Gathering
Activity
Garden of Eden coloring sheet
Each student can choose a wrist band; tie it aroung their RIGHT wrist so they know which hand to use
for the sign of the cross.
Invite
Opening Prayer:Invite the children to stand with you in your Gathering Space. She them their

completed prayer cloth. Lead them in the sign of the cross, making each movement distinctly and

saying each word clearly.
With hands folded have them repeat the Lord’s Prayer after you say each line.
ORRead aloud: Let Us Pray on page 47, God’s Word- What do you wonder?
Chapter 2 review p 66, Parable of the Lost Sheep, Creation- How many days? What did God do on the
7th day? What do we do on the 7th day? (Go to mass), reiterate that all of creation is a gift from God.

“Lump of Clay”
Explain that God created the world and everything in it, including people. Each one of us is different

Distribute a lump of soft clay to each child. (Keep a lump for yourself too.) Invite them to make

they made. Then say, God made the world. He made each of us. He put lots of love into that work.
Are we all the same? No, people are not all the same. God has made us all different so we can help
one another.
Hold up the Bible and ask if they know what it is. Last week we heard how God created the world.
What did God think about his work? He said, “It is good!”
Let’s hear how wonderful God was to the very first people. Genesis 1:2 the story of Adam and Eve.
The Church teaches that God created the universe and humans in his image. We come to know about
God's love for us through Scripture.

Praise means honoring God for his great kindness & love.
Activity: Sign of the cross sheet, cut into squares. Instruct students to put the pictures into proper
order. Do not have them glue any in place until a teacher checks their work. Then glue into place.

Give each child a paper plate and provide them with watercolors or markers. Encourage them to
create some art showing something in the world that God created
