Throughout the reading, I will use effective questioning to check understanding . Then, I will assign students a study buddy to fill out a graphic organizer about Jackie Robinson. Students will be shown an interactive PowerPoint about Jackie Robinson’s life. Then, students will complete a differentiate d closing activity about Jackie Robinson (3 different levels). Lesson Summary 3- things you have learned 2- things you want to know more about 1-question you still have Answer essential question, and compare life back then to now. Assessment/ Evaluation Graphic Organizer about Jackie Robinson Jackie Robinson Clozing Activity Time Time Time PowerPoint will be shown to learn more about Martin Luther King. Throughout the PowerPoint, I will use effective questioning to check understanding . We will compare and contrast characteristic traits between Jackie Robinson and Martin Luther King Jr. in a Venn diagram. For writing assignment: Group 1 will write 2 sentences about what they have learned. Group 2 will write up to 5 sentences about their learning today. Students will write 2 to 5 sentences about what they have learned about Martin Luther King Jr. Facts learned about Martin Luther King Jr. Observations Students will be put into assigned groups to watch a video on the iPads, using the QR code. Students will have to answer questions about the video with their group. We will review what we have learned about Martin Luther King. I will read a library book to the students about Martin Luther King Jr. Then, students will have to create their own story about Martin Luther King Jr. Students will be provided a word bank to help guide students. Some students will be required to use all the words in the word bank. Review questions as a whole group to review main points. Volunteers will share their stories created. Then, answer the essential question.
