scholarships. Many scholarships are
available in the Career Center. Scholarship
opportunities are also listed in the Student
Services website and by going to the Green
Bay Public School’s website:
http://www.gbaps.org/Students/Pages/defaul
t.aspx under the heading “Student Resources
tab down to “Scholarship Guide 20132014”.
Follow all scholarship deadlines and provide
7-10 school days for the Student Services
Office to process these applications if a high
school transcript is needed.
IMPORTANT***Scholarship Scams***
Applying for scholarships should be a free
process. Never pay to find a scholarship and
never pay a scholarship provider to apply.
Scholarship scams net $5 million annually.

JUNIOR INFORMATION
JUNIOR/PARENT/COUNSELOR
MEETINGS
All parents and guardians of juniors are
invited to participate in an Individual
Planning Conference or IPC. Parents and
guardians of juniors will meet with their
School Counselors to review transcripts and
discuss post high school plans. These
conferences will assist parents and their
children to prepare for their futures whether
they are going into the world of work,
military, technical, or four-year colleges.
This will be a great opportunity for parents
and juniors to start planning for their senior
year and beyond. Questions will be
answered and resource materials will be
available. Parents are encouraged to call
the Students Services Office at 391-2402
to schedule a junior conference.

JUNIOR AND FRESHMAN
INFORMATION
ON-LINE YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR
SURVEY
Beginning in early-April, students in grades
9 and 11 will be taking part in the Online
Youth Risk Behavior Survey (OYRBS)
sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of
Public Instruction and the Green Bay Area
Public School District. The survey will ask
students to answer questions related to
school safety—such as alcohol and other
drug use and bullying, among others. The
survey is designed to protect all students’
privacy, with steps taken throughout the
survey process for all students to remain
anonymous. Results of this survey help
support programming designed to decrease
at-risk behaviors in students while also
increasing students’ achievement and
engagement in school.
We would like all students in grades 9 and
11 to complete the survey, however it is
voluntary. Your student has the option not to
answer every question in the OYRBS, or not
take the survey. If you would like to review
the survey, copies are available for viewing
in the Preble High School main office and
Student Services office. If you have any
further questions or you do not want your
child to take part in the survey, please
contact Anne Tobias-Becker before March
10, 2014 at (920) 448-2238 or email at
amtobias-becker@gbaps.org.
