Kindergarten & New First Graders Registration Information
Dear Parents: Kindergarten & First Grade registration will open on Monday, March 2. Here is some
important information to facilitate registering your child for the new school year.

The Infinite Campus Registration link appears as a new message in the parent portal. If you
have older children enrolled in the WCSD, please add new siblings through the parent portal.

Please add new siblings through the Online Registration Link in the Parent Portal. Once you
are in Online Registration and have reviewed your current children, click on the blue link
ADD NEW STUDENT before you exit.
If you don’t have children currently enrolled in the WCSD, please go to washoeschools.net, click
on the tab Students and Parents, click on the link Register for School,
o click on the link Registering for Kindergarten;
o click on the link Registering Students Who Have Not Yet Attended School
To complete Kindergarten and New to WCSD First Grade registration, Please bring to Marvin Moss
office: the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE, CURRENT IMMUNIZATION RECORD AND PROOF OF
RESIDENCY (such as a power bill). Registration is not complete without these documents.
If your child is currently enrolled in a Pre-K/Speech program (at Moss or another school), you will need
to complete registration as a new student. Pre-K/Speech students do not roll up to kindergarten.

Kindergarten & New First Graders Registration Information
For Incoming Kindergarteners:





Your child must turn 5 by September 30 to enter Kindergarten. That means the child cannot
turn 5 after 09/30/10.
Registration is not complete without the ORIGINAL birth certificate, shot records and proof of
residency.
During the first week of school, August 10-13, your child will only come one time for a 20
minute screening. Please make sure you sign up for a screening at the office.
Students will be assigned to kindergarten classes after teachers have completed screening.
Parents will receive a phone call notifying them of their child’s teacher and class lists will be
posted in the office on Friday, August 14.
The first day of class for kindergarten is Monday, August 17, 2015.
For Incoming First Graders (New to WCSD):






Your child must turn 6 by September 30 to enter First Grade. That means the child cannot turn
6 after 9/30/09.
Registration is not complete without the ORIGINAL birth certificate, shot records and proof of
residency.
New first graders will need to supply a copy of their kinder graduation certificate from a State
Licensed Kindergarten program.
If your child did not attend a State Licensed program, they will need to take a first grade
admission test. We have a list of licensed programs in the office.
The first day of school is Monday, August 10, 2015. Marvin Moss follows the WCSD Balanced
Calendar.
Class lists will be posted in the office the week of August 3, 2015
Class supply lists will be available in the office the week of August 3rd or on our web page,
washoeschools.net/Moss
In general, the following immunizations are needed to start school for kindergarten and first grade.

5 doses of DtaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis)
(4 okay if last one given after age 4)

4 doses of PIV or OPV (Polio)
(3 okay if last one given after age 4 and all three same type – IPV or OPV)




2 doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella)
3 doses of Hep B (Hepatitis B)
2 doses of Hep A (Hepatitis A)
2 doses of VZV (previously known as Varicella; or history of chickenpox)
