Preliminary Exercise Evaluation. Pre-filming: 1) The sequence of shots consisted of a close up of actor 1 turning up her ipod, then her feet walking into the shot which then becomes a close up. As she turns the corner there is a match on action shot which turns into a long shot of her walking along the corridor. When she walks along the corridor there is a panning shot from the side of her and then a long shot of her walking with the camera behind. There is then an extreme close up shot of the actor reaching for the door handle then a match on action shot of her opening it and then a long shot of her coming out the door. Then there is a medium shot panning as actor 1 bumps into actor 2. There is then a medium close up and a shot reverse shot of the actors having a conversation, and them both walking out the shot. 2) The purpose of the sequence is to keep the audience engaged by using different camera techniques and angles, also to make the audience laugh. Filming: 3) There were some differences between the shots films and the original plan on the story board. We used different shots and angles. 4) The additional shots used, that weren’t on the storyboard were when actor one walks into the camera and then the next shot is of her walking out of the camera. We also add a wide shot of the actors walking out the shot to end the sequence. Editing: 5) We cut out a long shot and a medium shot of actor one walking because it would have taken a long time and become a bit boring for the audience. We also cut out the close ups in the shot reverse shot scene; instead we changed it to a medium close up so you could see more of the location. 6) We were quite successful with creating a smooth flow of continuity but there were a few minor mistakes. For example the headphone lead was sometimes in actor ones pocket and then in her hand. Another example is in the shot reverse shot scene the exposure of the sky makes it look like it was shot later in the day. 7) When we filmed the math on action scene we filmed the first shot and the action together and then filmed the shot after the action. We also had to make sure that the same foot moved from where it was to the next shot in order to keep continuity. 8) When we filmed the shot reverse shot we filmed one side of the conversation and then the other, by doing this we had to make sure the conversation was the same and that the actors paused in between each sentence. We then created the shot reverse shot technique in editing. 9) We kept to the 180 degree rule by always having a wall or post behind the actors. 10) The genre of the sequence was comedy; we decided to add humour to make the scene more entertaining.
