You may work from photographs that are your own, not from magazines etc.
You may work from life- still life or plein air
Please have a warm and a cool version of the basic oil or acrylic paint colors.
Suggested supply list:
Cool yellow-cadmium light or lemon
Odorless mineral spirits
Warm yellow- cad. Medium
Linseed oil or medium
Cool red- alizarin crimson
Brushes- size 4-10 flats. (Suggested)
Warm red- cad. red
Canvas panels or stretched canvas
Cool blue- cobalt
Paper for preliminary sketches
Warm blue- ultramarine
Green-Viridian
Yellow ochre
Burnt sienna
Titanium white
Photo references of whatever subject you
want. You may also set up a still life.
The Southside Art League has plenty of
floor and table easels.

Suggested Supply List:
Small foam brush, old oil painting brushes
Mineral spirits or isopropyl alcohol
Paper towels and gloves if you wish, hand
wipes
Suggestion: Get with a friend, buy a box of
pastels and break each piece in half and
share the expense. The more expensive the
pastels are the more pigment they have and
less filler.
Any sanded pastel papers
Small Sketch pad
Drawing Board
Masking tape
Tracing paper to protect work for storing
Vine charcoal sticks (not compressed
charcoal sticks)
Several photos of landscape etc., still life,
not published
Hard pastels - (nu pastels)
Soft pastels – Sennelier, Schmincke, Unison,
Terry Ludwig or any other soft pastels
(Rembrandt pastels are labeled “soft”, but
are in- between hard and soft)
I will have sanded pastel paper for $10.00
each. You can cut it into smaller sizes.
Any pad of colored pastel paper. This is
about experimenting so get an assortment of
colors.
