Four new videos will have been published in 2012-2013 in the Pedagogical Quickies series, with part 2 of
the Flipping the Classroom series being a double-feature of sorts. Since the last video of 2011-2012 was
published in June (as will the last video of 2012-2013), the views hadn’t been reported on last year.

Aiming Higher: Bloom & Vigotsky in the Classroom,

My friend and colleague Judith Cantin and I were
working on this idea that Bloom's Taxonomy and
Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development could be put
to concrete use in the classroom. As we worked on
this, we came up with an idea we hope you'll find
worth exploring: targeted learning should fall in the
ZPD, but the learning activity shouldn't. This activity should mobilize knowledge, skills or competencies
from a higher level of Bloom's taxonomy, when possible.

Thinking about flipping your classroom (or your
pedagogical consultancy if you're a teacher trainer)? In
this sequel to Flipping Out... and In!, I present some of
the things one should try when considering a flip and
some advice for those who wish to create their own
videos in that context. The first video serves as an
introduction to the concept, while part 2 delves deeper into some of the benefits/limitations and tries to
dispel a couple of myths.

Failing Superman
In this video, the one-size-fits-all curriculum in which our
schools have been “evolving” is questioned and we look at
how technology and gamification could help turn things
around.
To be published, mid-September 2013.
