Animal- A kingdom made up of living things that get their energy by eating other living things.
Class-A level in the scientific classification of living things, higher than order and lower than phyla.
Family- A level in the scientific classification of living things, higher than genus and lower than order.
Genus- A level in the scientific classification of living things, higher than the species level and lower than
family.
Invertebrate- An animal without a backbone.
Kingdom- The highest level of scientific classification. A kingdom is a large group. Such as all animals or all
plants.
Order- A level in the scientific classification of living things, higher than family and lower than class.
Phyla- A level in scientific classification of living things, higher than class and lower than kingdom.
Plant- A kingdom made up of living things that make their own food using the energy in sunlight.
Scientific Classification- A system by which scientists arrange living things into groups.
Scientific Name- The name used by scientists to identify living things. It is made up of the genus and species.
Species-The lowest level of scientific classification. A species is made up of closely related living things with
many similarities.
