CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE NOT WON ON THE NIGHT OF A BIG EVENT, BUT YEARS BEFORE BY ATHLETES WHO
COMMIT THEMSELVES TO CHAMPIONSHIP PRINCIPLES!
KIDS MUST BE TAUGHT HOW TO COMPETE!
DEFINE YOUR EMPHASIS! (IT IS MUCH EASIER TO SLOW DOWN A GAME THAN TO SPEED IT UP!)

A Knight player does not skip practice.
A Knight player does not schedule appointments during practice times.
A Knight player is never larger than the tradition and excellence of Knight basketball.
A Knight player does not compromise the dedication to the team by participating in code-violating
activities.
5. A Knight player makes no excuses! Academic eligibility is a prerequisite to playing Knight
basketball.
6. A Knight player challenges adversity and views conflict as an opportunity for Godly growth and
maturity.
7. A Knight player demonstrates Christian discipline/commitment both when someone is watching
and when no one is watching.

SHOT SELECTION/”But, Coach, I can make that shot!”/A game of finite possessions
“Bad shots, probably more than anything else, lose basketball games, yet bad shots are ridiculously
common. Go to any playground and you will see more bad shots taken than good shots. Players seem
to love taking bad shots. Winning teams are most often the teams who pass up shots and wait for
better ones. What is the difference between a 45% shot and a 60% shot? Not much. A bit more time.
A step closer in. A bit more confidence and certainty about the one. Yet again, the 60% shot wins and
