Family Orientation Night is scheduled for Thursday, May 28 from 5-7:00 pm. We
strongly recommend that all enrolled families attend. The event will take place at The 658 Center,
our catering partners for Charlotte Lab School student lunches, located at 3646 Central Ave. You and
your family will have the chance to meet other Lab School families and staff, hear updates on the state of
the school, and participate in teacher-led activities. Come at 5:00 pm if you would like to buy dinner
prepared by The 658 Center. (It's a great chance to sample the student lunch menu!) We will also be
hosting a Cardinal Lane Book Fair that night, a portion of the proceeds benefiting Charlotte Lab School.
The schedule for the evening is as follows:
 5-6:00 pm Dinner, Social Hour & Book Fair
 6-7:00 pm Orientation Program, including adult and student breakout groups
Even if you don't plan to join us for dinner, we hope you will come early to socialize with other families
and shop at the Book Fair.
The deadline to RSVP and order dinner for our Family Orientation Night is Monday, May 25. RSVP
for the event here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/charlotte-lab-school-family-orientation-nighttickets-16563797765 and indicate if you would like to buy dinner and if you will be bringing nonLab siblings.
Please take a look at the important information below. We apologize for the long to-do list, but there is a
lot TO DO!
 We are also looking for volunteers to help with set-up, book fair, and dinner. Please consider
signing up for one of our volunteer slots here
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b4ca4ab28aafe3-family.
 Lab school students should wear their founding class t-shirts and arrive by 6:00 pm for a
founding class photo. If you do not already have your t-shirt, you can pick one up at the event.
 Please bring copies of your child(ren)'s birth certificate and updated immunization records (or
declaration or religious objection.)
 We will be collecting gently used books for our school: fiction and non-fiction, pre K-8th grade.
Please make sure they are in good condition with no missing, loose, or torn pages. Look for the
book donation bins at the event.
 Finally, if you plan to buy books or spirit wear, or pay for your preordered dinner, Charlotte Lab
School would appreciate it if you pay with cash or check to help us avoid credit card fees. (It will
also help keep the lines moving!) However, we do have the ability to take credit card payments
through PayPal if that works better for your family.
