UW-STOUT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TUITION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Fax: 715-232-5246
Email: finaid@uwstout.edu
International Student Tuition Scholarships are available to qualified international students based on their academic achievement at UW-Stout and their participation in volunteer/community services (completed forms filed with the Office of International Education), and the availability of funding. International students should promote global understanding on the UW-Stout campus and in the Menomonie community.
Rational: Participating in a minimum of four volunteer/community services per year or two per semester you will be a part of globalizing the campus and community.
International Student Tuition Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Continuing students, who submit an application before the deadline for the following academic year, are considered first.
Students requesting direct billing of a sponsor, or presenting notices of awards from governments or of significant support from any other organization, will not be eligible for a tuition scholarship. Those students hired as a graduate assistant in a position that includes tuition wavier do not qualify for this scholarship. If a tuition scholarship is awarded for a semester, which later is funded from other sources, the tuition scholarship will be cancelled.
Tuition scholarship funding is limited.
Applicants must:
1) possess valid non-immigrant status (F-1 visa)
2) be officially admitted to UW-Stout,
3) be degree seeking,
4) have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (undergraduate student), or
3.0 (graduate student), and
5) be enrolled on a full time basis. (Exceptions to fulltime status may be granted on an appeal basis.)
6) complete a minimum of 4 volunteer/community services per year ( or two per semester) o The value of the International Tuition Scholarship is as follows:
Graduate student: $2000 per semester 3.0 – 4.0 GPA
Undergraduate student: $2000 per semester 2.5 – 2.85 GPA
$2500 per semester 2.86-3.24 GPA
$3000 per semester 3.25 GPA or over
If additional funding is available, each student may receive additional scholarship monies for spring semester.
The tuition scholarship reduces the amount of non-resident tuition owed to the university per semester. These scholarships
are not available for:
1) courses with customized instruction charges,
2) WinTerM courses, or
3) courses in summer sessions
The International Tuition Scholarship is not to be considered the minimum payment (10%) required by the 5 th day of the term. Students are responsible for the balance of their university billing statement after the tuition scholarship is applied to their account. The tuition scholarship will be applied to the student’s charges following the 10 th day of the term.
Applicants must re-apply each year.
Application forms are available after February 1 from the Financial Aid Office,
International Education Office, or on-line at uwstout.edu/finaid (select ‘other aid’, and then the link for Tuition Waiver application). Applications must be completed and returned to the Financial Aid Office by May 12 th . Recipients are notified in late June by email.
