2012-2013 Board of Directors Elections
Roles within the Organization
Board
The Board shall:
 Set policies.
 Approve actions of officers and committees.
 Provide guidance to the organization.
 Approve contracts.
 Approve expenditures
Officers
The officers shall:
 Make day-to-day operating decisions.
 Execute contracts and expenditures.
 Assist and provide oversight for committees.
 Coordinate between committee
Committees
Committees shall:
 Plan programs and events.
 Present ideas board for approval.
 Carry out programs and events.
 Provide ways for members to get involved
Offices
President
The President shall:
 Act as chair of the Board of Directors.
o Prepare meeting agendas.
o Lead Board discussions.
 Act as the “face” of the organization and ambassador to members.
 Act as chief executive officer.
 Act as ex officio member of all standing committees.
 Appoint.interim directors.
 Conduct officer and committee chair elections.
 Act as chair of the Executive Committee.
o Prepare meeting agendas.
o Lead Executive Committee discussions.
o Oversee all other officers.
Vice President of Operations
The Vice President of Operations shall:
 Act as a liaison between the administrative committees.
 Chair Governance Committee.
 Provide oversight for administrative tasks and projects.
 Oversee Secretary of State and Internal Revenue Service registrations as well as the
Attorney General’s office regarding charitable organizations.
 Act as parliamentarian.
Vice President of Programming
The Vice President of Programming shall:
 Act as a liaison between programming committees.
 Provide oversight for events.
 Chair ad hoc nominating committee for Vice President of Operations replacements.
Treasurer/Secretary
The Treasurer/Secretary shall:
 Act as the chief fiscal officer.
 Provide yearly organizational budgets.
 Assist the Secretary with director elections.
 Register the organization with the IRS and provide tax information.
 Maintain an organizational bank account.
 Sign checks of the organization.
 Chair for the Finance Committee.
 Take minutes for Board and Executive Committee meetings.
 Conduct director elections.
 Maintain all organizational records.
 Act as the organization’s historian.
 Send meeting agendas and minutes to directors.
 Register with the Secretary of State, when needed.
Committees
Each of the committees shall:
 Prepare monthly committee reports and provide them to the Board.
 Propose, research and plan events or proposals with the assistance of the Vice President
when necessary.
 Provide opportunities for member and board involvement.
Membership
The Membership Committee shall:
 Maintain the member database.
 Set and collect dues from members.
 Propose and impose membership requirements.
 Provide and compile a list of member benefits.
 Recruit new members at events.
 Contact and welcome new members, as well as potential members.
Marketing & Communications
The Marketing & Communications Committee shall;
 Maintain the web site, with one member designated as webmaster.
 Maintain social networking sites and accounts.
 Provide advertising for all organization events and programs.
 Create and distribute press releases.
 Take photos at all events and programs.
 Create marketing materials as requested and required.
 Keep current members informed of YPC events and other possible events of interest to
members via e-mail or newsletters.
Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee shall.
 Propose, plan, and execute professional development events, including but not limited to:
o Networking opportunities.
o Board experience opportunities.
o Career and job oriented development opportunities.
 Identify possible events of interest to members.
 Propose event partnerships with other organizations.
 Maintain partnerships with other organizations.
Social/Cultural
The Social/Cultural Committee shall:
 Propose, plan, and execute social and cultural events, including but not limited to:
o Happy hours.
o Musical and theatrical events.
o Family events.
 Identify possible events of interest to members.
 Propose event partnerships with other organizations.
 Maintain partnerships with other organizations
Philanthropy
The Philanthropy Committee shall:
 Propose, plan, and execute philanthropic events.
 Identify possible events of interest to members.
 Propose event partnerships with other organizations and charities.
 Recommend organizations and charities to donate organizational funds to.
Development
The Development Committee shall:
 Explore sponsorship opportunities with other organizations and individuals.
 Ensure compliance with Ohio laws and regulations involving charity.
 Create event sponsorship opportunities.
 Cultivate relationships with sponsors.
