Housed in one of Australia’s most prominent national heritage listed buildings, the Museum of Australian
Democracy at Old Parliament House was the first museum in Australia dedicated to telling the story of the
journey of our democracy. It seeks to provide a range of innovative exhibitions, tours, interpretation,
education programs and public activities that will inspire and challenge visitors to explore democracy from
its ancient roots to the present day and possible futures.
The Museum of Australian Democracy encourages applications from the diverse Australian community

Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undergo and maintain a baseline security clearance and
obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Registration Card.

ABOUT THE POSITION
As part of a small team, working in a fast paced environment, you will be responsible for the
implementation of strategies that promote the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old
Parliament House and its activities, across the full marketing spectrum. The occupant of the position will
have a passion for marketing, a ‘can do’ attitude and an ability to drive own projects. Media relations
experience desirable.
DUTIES
1.
Implement marketing strategies for exhibitions and events that include a mix of advertising, media
relations and digital components including evaluation on the success of the strategies
2.
Write, edit and manage the museum’s monthly e-newsletter including growth of the e-newsletter
database membership
3.
Drive and generate local media stories around museum activities
4.
Maintain effective relationships with the tourism industry, internal stakeholders, the media, the
Department and the cultural sector
5.
Assist with ad-hoc internal marketing and filming requests, and manage administrative and
procurement requirements such as the processing of invoices, daily budget management, monthly
accruals, etc.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1.
Demonstrated experience in the implementation of integrated marketing campaigns including:
creative campaign development, print production, media buying, direct marketing, media relations and
social media.
2.
High level project management skills including the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage a
number of projects simultaneously with excellent attention to detail.

3.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills that have been applied to campaign
communication and/or for public relations purposes.
4.
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and contribute positively to a team
environment.
5.
Self-motivated with a proven commitment to consistently achieve results.
6.
Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to apply the APS values, participative management practices,
workplace diversity principles, and work health and safety within a work and team environment.
