Plans for 2014 and beyond
It is an exciting time of growth for the Mark Bruce Company as we continue to expand our creative
ideas, collaborations and opportunities, moving towards the goal of being a full-time organisation
from 2015.
Mark Bruce Company’s production Dracula successfully toured in 2013, winning the 2014 South
Bank Sky Arts Award for dance and will again be touring in the Autumn of 2014. At the same time,
the company is beginning to look towards a new production for 2015.
The Mark Bruce Company has been managed by Tobacco Factory Theatres since January 2012. We
are now in a position to move out of this agreement and plan to be an independently managed
organisation from December 2014. Tobacco Factory Theatres will manage the Mark Bruce
Company’s 2014 retour of ‘Dracula’ whilst a new Executive Producer begins to work with the
company in a more strategic capacity, in anticipation of taking over the company in December 2014.
The company has recently applied to become part of Arts Council England’s national portfolio and
the outcome of this bid will be known in July 2014. If successful, the company has a clear artistic
vision of where it wishes to go in the next three to four years, which we would like the Producer to
take an active role in leading and shaping. If the NPO is not successful, the company still has strong
plans to continue as a project-funded company, to develop an exciting, high quality programme for
that same period, and as such we would be looking for the Executive Producer to help lead the
company forward on a project-by-project basis.
Governance
The company is a registered charity limited by guarantee, with an engaged and recently refreshed
board of trustees.
