Dear Colleagues,
The CVM Staff Council and Office of Human Resources announce the CVM Ambassador Program for new
staff members. Each new hire will be matched with volunteers from the vet school who will help
welcome and orient them to the college and act as a resource for job related questions, allowing for an
easier transition for the new employee.
We are currently recruiting CVM staff interested in serving as an ambassador and who, once matched
with a new employee by HR, are willing to meet informally with the new employee as needed over the
course of their first year of employment. New employees will, ideally, be matched with an ambassador
who is from the same job family and location within the Vet College. This means that we are looking for
volunteers from all departments and areas of the Vet College including AHDC, Baker Inst., CUHA, Duck
Lab, Equine Park and all other associated areas. The ambassador will also be available to answer
questions by email. Ambassadors should be in good standing in their position and supervisors should be
made aware of their participation in this program. No additional compensation will be given, however,
the time commitment should be modest. This program is not intended to overlap with the Peer Support
Network, FSAP or any other Cornell support program, rather it is designed to help a new employee feel
welcome and engaged in the College of Veterinary Medicine community.
If you are interested in serving as a CVM Ambassador, please contact Scott Butler (sdb9@cornell.edu) to
have your name added to the list. This program will be implemented by the CVM Office of Human
Resources. Depending on the number of ambassadors and new employees, you may or may not be
paired up with someone.
We look forward to your participation in this new program.
Scott Butler
