Societies’ Annual Report Framework
Below is a framework for you to use to complete your Annual Report. Each society needs to
complete this report which will then be uploaded to the Students’ Union website. The report will be
useful to several different stakeholders - the committee that takes over from you, members of your
society, students who are interested in taking part and even non-students. The framework is there
to help you set out the main, essential points you need to cover. However, please attach any other
relevant information you may want to include.

In your opinion, based on your experiences over the past year, what is the best thing about getting
involved in your society?
Being able to not only get more involved within chemistry but also to allow for you to actively create
events that you may have seen as lacking in previous years or ones that you just wanted to do better
than they had been done previously. By having to communicate with people at every level within
Chemistry you increase you communication skills which allow you to better understand how event
management works and to better yourself in public speaking. Being able to bring all members
together in an informal manner, both relating to chemistry, in the form of open lectures and in a
social context such as bar crawls and a quiz night, with the former creating links with other societies,
forming bonds for future committees.

The Webmaster was
directed by the President to
update the webpage and to
make a facebook group
which would not only inform
the new students off the
goings on within chemistry
but also to allow them to
have a place to talk having
not yet met.
The dates were pre planned
and as this was our first ever
event we worked at is as a
group with the social
secretary being able to use it
as an opportunity to
organise a smaller event, the
publicity manager was able
to do the first posters, while
the secretary created the
buddy groups so as to allow
everyone to be informed off
their groups in advance so as
to allow the buddy meet and
fresher’s bar crawl to run
smoothly.
The Pub Quiz and Christmas
Review were a joint effort
from the whole society as
they are 2 of the 3 flagship
chemsoc events, with the 3rd
being the ball. The venue has
to be booked in advance
with advertising going out to
all students and lecturers to
inform them of the event
and for the revue, to rally
variety shows so as to allow
for the event to take place.
The FEPS bar crawl was

event, from ordering t-shirts,
printing tickets and
informing all venues that the
event was going to go
through them and to ensure
drinks offers were possible.
The Hoodies were done by
the Vice President, who got
in contract with the
companies to find the best
deal and ensured that
everything was organised
prior to collecting orders.
The Publicity manager was
able to advertise all these
events by producing posters
which were put up around
the chemistry department
and labs.

Tri-Science Bar

AGMs and handover
programmes
The Tri-science bar crawl
was organised by the
president and social sec of
each society involved. They
had a meeting and decided
who was doing what for the
event, with biosoc getting
the role of t-shirt ordering
and Chemsoc going to all the
venues and ensuring that
they had enough staff
members and could provide
drinks offers. Committee
members of each society
then bought paint and pens
to allow for the event to be a
memorable affair. Members
of the committee also
ensure that all people
involved got to the venues
safely by acting as road
guards and directing the
over 100 to the desired
locations.
