TSW: Learn about how rocks can help us know where to find fossils; and formation of igneous rock.
Activity & Assessment: Begin by creating PDSA goal for unit, then discussing slides & Grand Canyon video
(Day 1). In small groups, discuss & compare igneous rocks using Description Cards (Worksheet 1) and Venn
Diagram (Worksheet 4). End by discussing Venn Diagrams, Compare Igneous Rocks

TSW: Understand the major difference between the three types of rock and how they form.
Activity & Assessment: Start by discussing warm-up slides (Day 2). As a whole class, discuss Compare
Rock Types (Worksheet 2&3), then in small groups solve Venn Diagrams (Worksheet 5 & 6). End by
discussing Venn Diagrams, Compare Metamorphic Rocks and Igneous Rocks.
