Common Core Update
Lincoln Parish
April 2013
For 2013-14 ALL grades and content areas will go LIVE with the Common
Core State Standards in ELA/Math/Literacy Standards for Science, Social
Studies, and Technical Subjects. Common Core is here! Are you ready?
To ensure district wide implementation after Phase II testing educators must maximize
opportunities to move forward with some Spring Cleaning!
Spring Actions should include:

Access SAMPLE Year-Long Scope and Sequences
Teachers across Louisiana have collaborated to create year-long scope and sequences for ELA and math. These tools should
be adapted by districts to meet the needs of teachers and the specific students they teach. After establishing a year-long
scope and sequence, teachers can plan to teach at the unit level. During Spring/Summer 2013 the
department will be providing some sample units, assessments, and tools. Teachers will regularly create
math and ELA unit plans to meet the needs of their students.

2013-2014 END OF YEAR TESTING GUIDANCE
Assessments will become increasingly rigorous in anticipation of the full implementation of the Common
Core and PARCC Assessments in 2014-15. Locate NEW Assessment Resources for 2013-14. ALL
former LEAP, iLEAP and EOC tests will be restructured to align with PARCC Assessment Guidance. The
specific standards that will be tested and in what proportion for math and ELA across all grade levels are
provided in the Classroom Support Toolbox.
During Louisiana’s continued transition to Common Core (12-13 and 13-14), teachers may use
the assessment resources below to help guide their goal-setting, planning, instruction and interim assessments:
