Tree Agate
Geology
Tree agate is a dendritic agate. Dendritic agates have fern like patterns in them formed due to the presence of
manganese & iron oxides. Other types of included matter deposited during agate-building include sagenitic
growths (radial mineral crystals) & chunks of entrapped detritus (such as sand, ash, or mud). Occasionally agate
fills a void left by decomposed vegetative material such as a tree limb or root & is called limb cast agate due to
its appearance.
Most agates occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or ancient lavas where they represent cavities originally
produced by the disengagement of volatiles in the molten mass which were then filled wholly or partially by
siliceous matter deposited in regular layers upon the walls. Agate has also been known to fill veins or cracks in
volcanic or altered rock underlain by granitic intrusive masses. Such agates, when cut transversely exhibit a
succession of parallel lines often of extreme tenuity, giving a banded appearance to the section. Such stones are
known as banded agate, rib agate & striped agate
Metaphysical Properties
Expansive & calming providing security with joy. Great for protection during travel by air or car. Put a piece
by a photo of estranged family members to call them home. Strengthens & harmonises family connections. Has
deep earth connections. Helps to recall memories of all lifes & open the Akashic records. Brings peace to a
troubled mind. Heals the pain of an unhappy childhood.
Crystal Healing
Clears energy blockages, fluid retention, vein & capillary problems. Absorbs pain when placed on the point of
the pain.
