Ο Δρ. Σπυρίδων Ρουκανάς είναι Λέκτορας στο Τμήμα Διεθνών και Ευρωπαϊκών Σπουδών του
Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς στο γνωστικό αντικείμενο της Διεθνούς Πολιτικής Οικονομίας. Eίναι
απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Διεθνών Οικονομικών Σχέσεων & Ανάπτυξης του Δημοκρίτειου
Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης (2003). Πραγματοποίησε Μεταπτυχιακές Σπουδές στη Διεθνή Πολιτική
Οικονομία (Master of Arts in International Political Economy) στο University of Leeds της
Μεγάλης Βρετανίας (2004). Είναι διδάκτορας του Τμήματος Διεθνών Οικονομικών Σχέσεων &
Ανάπτυξης του Δημοκριτείου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης (2008). Έχει διδάξει ως Επισκέπτης
Λέκτορας στο Δημοκρίτειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θράκης (Τμήμα Διεθνών Οικονομικών Σχέσεων και
Ανάπτυξης, Τμήμα Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Σπουδών: «Σπουδές
Νοτιοανατολικής Ευρώπης» της Νομικής Σχολής). Επίσης, έχει διδάξει ως Επισκέπτης Λέκτορας
στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου (Τμήμα Μηχανικών Οικονομίας και Διοίκησης και Πρόγραμμα
Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών: «Οικονομική και Διοίκηση για Μηχανικούς» του Τμήματος
Μηχανικών Οικονομίας και Διοίκησης). Στα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνονται η
μελέτη της Διεθνούς Πολιτικής Οικονομίας και της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης στις χώρες της
Νοτιοανατολικής Ευρώπης και στις αναδυόμενες οικονομίες και οι σχέσεις τους με την Ε.Ε.

Dr. Spyros Roukanas is Lecturer of International Political Economy at the Department of
International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus. He graduated from the
Department of International Economic Relations and Development of Democritus University of
Thrace (2003). He was awarded his Master of Arts in International Political Economy from the
University of Leeds (UK) (2004). He was awarded his Ph.D. at the Department of International
Economic Relations and Development, Democritus University of Thrace (2008). He has taught as
a Visiting Lecturer at Democritus University of Thrace (Department of International Economic
Relations and Development, Department of Agricultural Development and Program of “PostGraduate Courses in South-Eastern Europe Studies”, Department of Law). He has also taught as a
Visiting Lecturer at the University of the Aegean (Department of Financial and Management
Engineering and Postgraduate Programme in: “Economics and Management for Engineers" at the
Department of Financial and Management Engineering). His main research interests are in
International Political Economy and sustainable development in the countries of Southeast
Europe and emerging economies and their relations with the EU.
