Sessional Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist – Trauma (to cover
maternity leave)
CHUMS Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service for Children and
Young People
CHUMS CIC Social Enterprise is an NHS Approved Provider of clinical services
to bereaved and traumatised children as well as those with mild to moderate
mental health difficulties in Luton and Bedfordshire. The service left the NHS
in June 2011 to become an independent Social Enterprise, affording the
organisation more freedom to offer its services in a way that best suits the
needs of the service users. It is jointly funded by the NHS and charitable
donations. The appointed sessional Clinical/Counselling Psychologist will be
working within the Trauma Service offering support to children/young people
following a trauma which will include traumatic death, sexual abuse, witness
to domestic violence, witness to another traumatic incident and/or are
showing signs and symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder.
The post-holder will be expected to offer assessment and intervention to
their own individual caseload of children and young people, based on trauma
focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles and other evidence-based
approaches. They will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and
skills in these approaches under supervision.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children and young
people with a range of mental health difficulties and experience in working
with trauma. They will also enjoy being part of a very friendly and
hardworking team of professionals.
