JOB DESCRIPTION
POST:
Outdoor Education Instructor & Duke of Edinburgh
Coordinator
GRADE:
NJC Scale 18-21
HOURS:
37 Hours per week
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Head of Outdoor Education
JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver high quality Outdoor Education within the
department, coordinate the Duke of Edinburgh’s award and
oversee preparation and maintenance of outdoor
equipment.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Provide positive practice to ensure that the departmental ethos / mission statement is upheld.

Deliver high quality outdoor education lessons, working within the limitations of any NGB awards
that you hold

Co–ordinate the Duke of Edinburgh’s award, directing administration support staff where
appropriate.

Contribute to maintaining a positive learning environment for all students.

Read, understand and implement all departmental policies, procedures and operational practices.

Ensure that any changes to policies, procedures and operational practices are adhered to.

Notify NJO of any concerns or issues regarding department policies, procedures and
operational practices.

To maintain a positive attitude at all times with children, parents, visitors and work colleagues.

To maintain confidentiality, child protection procedures, health and safety, and the
policies of Sharnbrook Upper School & the OE Dept.

Attend regular staff meetings, planning meetings and undertake training as required.

To work alongside other school staff members to ensure that all children have access to high quality
learning experiences & ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’.

To ensure resources are maintained to a high standard of care and to a serviceable state.

To identify resources that may need replacing or repair by regularly updating departmental
maintenance logs.

To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required.
(To work across the BTEC course/D of E as required).
