Intended learning outcomes
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:

Describe and explain the research process including data collection methods and analytical methods
with both qualitative and quantitative approaches

Apply evidence-based radiography, systematically search literature and formulate a relevant issue in a
minor essay as a basis for a project plan for the degree project in radiography

Apply relevant statistical analytical methods

Reflect on radiography as science in a scientific theoretical perspective, its scientific basis and relation to
the profession of the radiology nurse.

Explain research ethics principles and identify research ethics issues in the research process and from a
community perspective.
Course content

Theory of Science

The qualitative and quantitative research process

Quantitative and qualitative research methods for data collection and processing,

Excel-based assignment in statistics

Research documentation and critical article review

Evidence-based radiography and short essay writing as a basis for project plan


Course delivery
Teaching and learning take place through individual studies, lectures, laboratory sessions, study assignments and
seminars where a minor essay, a basis for the project plan of the degree project is presented.
Participation in laboratory sessions and seminars is compulsory.
Examination
Written examination assignment that is examined in the form of a presentation of a minor essay in a seminar that
underlies the future project plan. Web-based examination in basic statistics. Critical review of scientific articles
and research methods are presented in writing and in seminars. To pass the course, it is required that the all
parts of the course be completed and passed.
Criteria for pass and pass with distinction are stated in the study guide

This is a first-cycle course.
Study supervision is provided in the course room in Fronter.
