Courtney Adams, 18, is the 2015-2016 Indiana FFA State Reporter.
Courtney is excited for the opportunity to serve the over 11,000
members of the Indiana FFA Association. Courtney is the daughter of
Chris and Jennifer Adams.
Throughout five years of active membership in the National FFA
Organization, Courtney has served in numerous leadership positions
on the Chapter and State level. On the Chapter level, Courtney has
served as President. She has also been a Top Ten Member for the past
two years. On the State level, Courtney served as Section II Director.
She has attended Executive Committee meetings and trainings, as well
as several conferences. These conferences included: Premier Leadership Training (PLT), Leadership
Development Workshop (LDW), and Foundations In Reaching Excellence (FIRE). Courtney has also had
the opportunity to experience the Indiana State Fair workdays and set-up days in the FFA Pavilion. At the
National level, Courtney has had the opportunity to attend National Convention for two years.
Courtney has been involved in many Career Development Events (CDE’s) at the State level, including
Crops Evaluation which she has done for five years. Her time in Crops Evaluation has resulted in various
1st and 2nd place teams at the Area level, as well as 2nd place individual. Courtney has also participated in
the State Soils Evaluation CDE two out of her three years she competed. Courtney’s Leadership Career
Development Events include Essay and Leadership Ambassador, in both of which she has placed 2nd at
the District level. She has also participated in the Job Interview CDE.
Courtney’s Supervised Agricultural Experience is Beef Cattle Entrepreneurship. Her operation consists of
2 head of registered Shorthorn cows and one ShorthornPlus calf. Her responsibilities include feeding the
cattle, grooming them, cleaning out pens, and breaking the new calves for show. Courtney is also in
charge of paying for new calves and feed bills.
Courtney has also been extremely active within her school and community. She is a ten-year member of
4-H and has competed in the Hamilton County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant for two years. Courtney has also
been extremely involved with her school’s Student Council, where she has served as Class President,
Student Body Secretary, and Student Body President. Within her school, Courtney has been a member of
the 2014 Prom Committee, National Honor Society, various Academic Quizbowl and Foreign Language
Quizbowl teams, as well as the Speech and Debate Team. Athletically, Courtney was the Varsity
Cheerleading Captain. In soccer, Courtney earned the Academic All-State recognition. Courtney was also
named a Lilly Endowment Scholarship Finalist.
Courtney is ranked 1st out of 86 students in her class. She graduated with an Academic Honors Diploma.
After her year of service, Courtney will be attending Cornell University, studying Biological Sciences
with the intent to go on to medical school. She hopes to ease the suffering of sick children as either a
Pediatric Oncologist or Cancer Biology Researcher.
