School textbook rental scheme
In order to keep cost to parents to a minimum, our school has a Textbook Rental
Scheme from 1st class up. The scheme is set up to reduce costs for schoolbooks.
The Textbook Rental Scheme (TRS)t follows the Guidelines of the Department of
Education and Skills.
All families/pupils will be included in the Scheme unless they wish to opt out.
Parents/guardians pay a charge per class each year. This money is then used to buy
sets of books for the class which are used by the children in school. Your child will
be given the books on the first day of school after the summer holidays, provided you
have paid the required rental charge.
Membership
The scheme is voluntary. If you prefer to buy your own books you are free to do so.
The booklist is on the web site. You are still required to pay for the resource costs.
Membership of the scheme is open to all families in the school.
Membership of the scheme is at the discretion of the board of management and the
school principal.
Any pupil found to be abusing, defacing or disposing of rented books will be
dismissed from the scheme and will be required to supply their own textbooks for the
remainder of their time in the school.
Scope
Books supplied under the scheme may be new or second hand at the discretion of
the principal and board of management.
Purchase of workbooks, disposable materials and stationery will remain outside the
scope of this scheme and remain the responsibility of the parents. They can either
procure these through the school or outside of the school.
Charges
The Board of Management will set the annual rental charge per class.
The payment of this charge will secure the rental of all relevant text books listed in
the book list as and when required throughout the school year.
To qualify for admission to the scheme, the rental charge must be paid on or before
30 June of the previous school year.
