Stage 3 – Learning Plan
DIFFERENTIATION (I-3) There are several ways to individualize instruction for your
students
How will I scaffold and/or accelerate learning? For whom? How will I group my students?
SCAFFOLD:
ACCELERATE:
GROUP: (pre-teaching or re-teaching)
Learning Activities: (These can be attached 1 week at a time.)
Day 1:
11/08/13
Day 2:

Learning Activities:
4.3 Solve by Factoring + bx + c = 0
Warm Up: Foil Type Problem or Box
Intro to New Material: Notes: 4.3 Solve by Factoring x2 + bx + c = 0
Formative Assessment: Students factor quadratics with a partner and teacher circulates
as needed for assistance.
Formative Assessment: Students complete a scavenger hunt involving factoring with a
partner.
Independent Practice: Handout – Students Practice factoring

Formative Assessment: Go over Homework 4.3 questions.
Intro to New Material: Notes: 4.3: Finish notes over solve by factoring x2 + bx + c = 0
Show examples of how to solve for x using factoring for quadratics. Connect this concept
to solving a quadratic, finding the x-intercepts, finding the zeros, and finding the roots.
Formative Assessment: Students solve by factoring with a partner. Teacher circulates as
needed for assistance.
Independent Practice: Students practice problems over solve by factoring. Handout 4.3
Closure and Assessment: Exit Ticket - Class has a discussion to summarize the lesson.
Then students work on homework if time allows.
