The pageant is broken down into two days. Candidates will have their personal interview on Friday, April 15 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm and the pageant will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 7:00 pm in Jones Auditorium. We are excited about the pageant production with this year’s theme being “. Since this is a scholarship pageant, there is no bathing suit competition or talent portion. We are in search of women who have the confidence to represent the University at a variety of functions, including Hoggie Days, Homecoming, Family Fiesta Weekend and more. Below is the official application for the scholarship pageant. The deadline to submit an application is Monday, February 15th at 5:00 pm in the Office of Student Activities, located in MSUB 301. Please read all attached materials and then carefully complete the application. All application information must be typed directly on application pages. No handwritten applications will be accepted. Please make special note of the 2.75 G.P.A. eligibility requirements for Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Eligibility 1. I am a female 17 years of age or older. 2. I am currently a full time student (12 hours for undergraduates, 9 hours for graduates) at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. 3. I was enrolled and attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville during the Fall 2015 semester. _______ 4. I possess and, if selected as Miss TAMUK, will maintain a cumulative 2.75 minimum grade point average through Spring 2017. Additionally, I allow the Office of Student Activities to verify grade point average with the Dean of Students. ______ 5. I am currently in good conduct standing. I will follow the TAMUK Student Code of Conduct. ______ 6. Scholarships will be awarded and evenly dispersed in the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters with no exceptions. All Miss TAMUK rules and regulations continue to apply to me if I am awarded any of the scholarships. 8. The scholarship recipients must remain enrolled for a minimum of six (6) hours each semester (not including summer sessions) at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, through Spring 2017. _______9. Please notify pageant coordinator 24hrs prior to any absence. Missing more than 10% of Miss TAMUK pageant activities, excused on unexcused, will need to be evaluated by the pageant committee to further participate. _______10. Will be on time and prepared for all Miss TAMUK pageant related activities. Appearances 11. Miss Texas A&M-Kingsville is expected to attend functions as deemed appropriate and necessary by Student Activities (i.e. Hoggie Days, Mr. TAMUK Pageant, Family Weekend, Homecoming, etc). 12. The crown must be worn with the sash. However, the sash may be worn without the crown. 13. Miss TAMUK, when appearing in her sash, is representing the University. Thus, she should be professional and courteous. It is important that Miss TAMUK always be mindful that her behavior and actions reflect on her and the University at all times, even when she is not wearing her sash. The sash should not be worn to personal functions not previously cleared by the Office of Student Activities. 14. All requests for personal appearances of Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville must be forwarded through the Office of Student Activities. If you are contacted personally, please notify Student Activities of the request for a personal appearance of Miss TAMUK. 15. The University reserves the right to use your name, likeness, voice, and/or biography in connection with the pageant including use in promotional and advertising material. 16. It is expected Miss TAMUK come to the Office of Student Activities on a weekly basis to “check-in” and to determine any activities on the schedule. 6 (Next Page) Forfeiture of Crown, Title and Scholarship 17. If Miss TAMUK should be disqualified for any reason, the 1st runner-up will assume the title. If the runner-up is ineligible, the succession will follow through the runners-up in numerical order. 18. Any personal appearances without prior consent of the Office of Student Activities may result in forfeiture of the title. 19. Should Miss TAMUK be scheduled and agree to appear and fail to make that appearance, the title may be forfeited. 20. I have read and understand that any violation(s) of the Student Code of Conduct (Available in the Office of Student Activities) or any of these Miss TAMUK Rules and Regulations, may result in forfeiture of the title and scholarship. If the scholarship has been awarded, it must be repaid. 21. If Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville engages in behavior that is deemed by the Office of Student Activities as immoral, unethical or unbecoming of the position, she will have a hearing before the committee and the title may be forfeited. Miscellaneous 22. The Office of Student Activities is the primary sponsor of this pageant and all candidates and winners will be under the direction of the Office of Student Activities in matters pertaining to the title Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville. 23.
