Taj Mahal
 Taj Mahal was built by a grief stricken
Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his
beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.
 It took some 20,000 laborers 22 years to
build the Taj.
 Every detail is absorbing: the classical
gardens, the reflecting pool, and the
elaborate patterns of semiprecious stones
decorating the white marble.
 Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of
the Earth which is the single most
important sight a visitor to India can see.
Millions of pictures have been taken of
this elegant structure.
Ladakh and Leh
 Ladakh is the name of the eastern twothirds of the state of Jammu and
Kashmir. It's in a beautiful Himalayan
range, characterized by a desolate,
moonlike landscape and snowy peaks.
In some ways, it's more purely Tibetan
than the Tibet of today.
 Leh is the city of monasteries, It's a fun
town to walk about to see sidewalk
magicians, monks chanting, elderly
women spinning prayer wheels and
Tibetan refugees selling wares in the
market.
 11,499 ft/3,505 m above the sea level,
these two towns offer TrekkingMountaining, Skiing, Shikara Boat
ride, Monasteries and Sightseeing.
Lakshwadeep
 Lakshadweep means ‘a hundred thousand
islands’ in Malayalam. Lakshadweep
islands are the only coral islands of India.
 The base of the islands below the reef is a
volcanic formation over which corals
settled and built fringing reefs.
 Tourists can enjoy a ride in glassbottomed boats, to view the coral
formations and colorful fishes and marine
life in the lagoons at Lakshadweep.
 Besides the scenic beauty, Lakshwadeep is
a water sport destination of India.
Travelers go there for water scooting,
scuba diving, para sailing, snorkeling,
wind surfing, water skiing, etc.
