Job purpose - overview
To work with the Consumer Behaviour Change Manager to deliver WRAP’s strategy
for consumer behaviour change relating to sustainable consumption re-use, and
recycling.
To develop and implement innovative PR approaches to encourage individuals to
purchase more sustainably, and to re-use and recycle; and to help them to access
relevant tools and resources to support any changes they make.
To find innovative ways of working with partners to raise awareness of re-use and
recycling opportunities with individuals and to help them to act, and to develop
further and share our consumer behaviour change resources.
To work with the Corporate PR team and Love Food Hate Waste PR Project Manager
to ensure that PR activities and messages are co-ordinated across WRAP, and
contribute to the delivery of a first-class engagement service to both internal and
external stakeholders.
Core accountabilities
1. To support the Consumer Behaviour Change Manager in the development of
research, insights and knowledge to underpin WRAP’s understanding of consumer
attitudes and behaviour in the area of sustainable consumption, re-use and
recycling.
2. To develop and manage the implementation of an annual PR plan to promote
WRAP’s consumer behaviour change initiatives and campaigns, and to encourage
individuals to act.
3. To work closely with WRAP’s network of partners, and help develop new partner
relationships, to deliver effective and innovative PR approaches to help individuals
(in particular) and businesses to act.
4. To ensure WRAP’s consumer insights, materials and knowledge are shared
through appropriate channels, including WRAP’s web and social marketing
channels and to relevant community networks.
5. To produce press releases, articles, copy, briefing materials, publications and
other forms of public relations resources, and manage phone calls, medial
briefings, and other events to support the communication of WRAP’s work relating
to consumer behaviour change campaigns.
6. To liaise with and manage contracts with external suppliers including, PR
agencies, copywriters, photographers, proof readers, media and others to
produce high quality PR and marketing outputs and manage PR tender exercises
as required, ensuring compliance with WRAP procedures.
7. To work with others in Government, their delivery networks and local government
to ensure a joined up support offering on behavioural change.
8. To contribute to the design and development of support materials; ensure they
maintain the integrity of WRAP’s brands and are produced to the highest of
standards.
9. To work closely with other programmes within WRAP and the Corporate PR team,
including those responsible for digital communications, design and information
services, to ensure a coherent joined up approach to consumer behaviour change
PR and development of resources.
10. To provide progress reports and expenditure forecasts for projects as required by
the Programme Area Manager or Head of Programme to inform monthly and
quarterly reporting on the programme; including those relating to monitoring and
evaluation of partnership/project impacts.
11. To ensure all projects are carried out in line with the aims and objectives of
WRAP and are in line with the principles and operating parameters of the
organisation.
12. To undertake other appropriate duties as may be determined from time to time
by the Programme Area Manager and the Head of Programme.

Job essentials
 Experience of developing consumer PR campaigns.
 Experience of working with consumer PR agencies – gained from working for an agency
or from contracting services.
 Good knowledge of consumer media.
 Working knowledge of a wide range of new and traditional media.
 Demonstrable experience of developing alliances and working with partners to achieve.
