2. What kind of rocks do metamorphic rocks form from? Igneous,
Sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks.
3. What two factors cause metamorphic rocks to form? Heat, Pressure.
4. Describe a foliated metamorphic rock. Grains are arranged in parallel
layers or bands and when struck may break along those lines.
5. Name 2 examples of foliated metamorphic rocks. Slate, gneiss, schist.
6. Describe a non-foliated metamorphic rock. The mineral grains are
arranged randomly and do not break into layers.
7. Name 2 examples of non-foliated metamorphic rocks. Marble (from
limestone), Quartzite (from sandstone).

polished, cut into thin slabs, and carved into shapes.
